Rushville regional chairmen named for state high school contests
The Rushville regional of the 48th annual state high school contests will be chaired by Tom Jones and Mrs Justine Mitchell of Rushville High School and by several other district leaders from Knightstown Morristown Wilkinson Southwestern and Shelbyville. About 5200 students from 525 Indiana high schools enter regionals on March 24 across 36 cities with finals set for April 28 at Indiana University. Peace Corps seeks volunteers with farm backgrounds for global service
The Peace Corps office in Washington appeals for men and women with farm backgrounds and 4 H and vocational training in agriculture to serve abroad. Rush County Extension Office will match volunteers with preferred countries such as India Malaya North Borneo Sarawak Philippines Thailand and others. College graduates in agronomy horticulture agriculture economics animal husbandry agriculture engineering vocational agriculture and home economics are in demand, with full expenses paid including transportation housing clothing food medical care and incidents. Volunteers earn 75 dollars per month for each month of service, totaling 1800 dollars for two years.

Oats Germination Testing Sees Mixed Results In County

Birthday Supper Social Draws Large Carthage Crowd
A large crowd gathered last Friday at Carthage East Street Christian Church for the annual birthday supper social and program. Lloyd Manuel welcomed guests and John Wagner gave the invocation. Twelve tables themed to the months lined the meal area. Harry Martin of WFBM presented color slides from Russia and spoke on Christian churches there as Old Fashioned Airs Quartet sang with Judy Martin accompanying. Rev. Robert Kendall adjourned the program.
