Revival Meeting Closes as Walnut Ridge Ends Weeklong Services

The Rev. Howard Crim led a quarterly meeting at Lewis Creek last Saturday and Sunday. Evangelist Rev. Harry Kreider of Van Wert Ohio spoke as revival services at Walnut Ridge concluded Sunday night after a two week series.

Rush County Extension Advisory Committee Holds Annual Meeting

The Rush County Extension Advisory Committee met March 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with 32 members present. Dolph Crane presided as officers were elected for the coming year including President Worth Hudson and Vice President Allen Blackridge. Annabel Clawson attended along with state and county extension staff. The program covered 1945 results, 4-H activities, home economics, and plans for 1946, including veteran training, vocational instruction, a year round 4-H program, and better record keeping.

Infant Robert Lee Whitfield Dies in Indianapolis Hospital

Infant son of Mr and Mrs Charles Whitfield Sr died Tuesday at Riley hospital Indianapolis He was born February 15 1946 and lived in the hospital The immediate survivors include his parents four sisters three brothers and grandmother Mrs Whitfield of Carthage Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 pm at Thompson funeral home with DeWitt Foster in charge. Burial followed in the town cemetery.

Funeral Rites Held for Mrs William Burton Sr

Funeral services were held last Friday at the Butcher funeral home in Knightstown for Mrs. William Burton Sr aged 59 who died at her home north of Knightstown early Tuesday. Rev. Ernest A. Carthage Men to Be Tried in Federal Court

Five men charged with conspiracy to violate the marijuana act pleaded innocent in federal court in Indianapolis and were scheduled to face trial on May 9. Defendants include James A. Alsman, 51, and his father William Henry Alsman, 80, both from south of Carthage, for allegedly growing marijuana on a Ripley county farm.

County Convention Dates For Federated Clubs

The 6th district sets county convention dates with Hancock on March 29 at Greenfield Henry on April 10 at Springfort Wayne on April 11 at Centerville Shelby on April 12 at Fountaintown Fayette on April 25 at Connersville Franklin on April 26 at Mt. Knightstown Man Arrested in Farm Trailer Theft Mystery

State police arrested John Bowen 29 of Knightstown after a tip by an Indianapolis firm. Bowen allegedly sold 25 stolen four wheeled farm trailers for about 2500 dollars, all stolen since November, and was jailed in Shelbyville on two counts of grand larceny.

Rush County Sends 36 Young Men for Induction Exams

Thirty six Rush county youths were sent to Indianapolis on Wednesday from the selective board to take pre induction examinations. Among them were Richard Eugene Miller James Benjamin Sanders and Junior Nelson Conley. Results were not learned at press time.
