Robbers slug girl in home near Center
Burglars entered the Huber farm home near the Center Christian church east of here and escaped with 1.50 in cash from a purse. Joyce Huber, 16, was slugged while alone and on the phone. a neighbor heard her screams and alerted authorities. Sheriff Virgil Grinstead investigated. a Luger pistol was found but fingerprints were obscured.

Ralph Lord Dies in Methodist Hospital
Ralph H. Lord age 52 grocery store owner of Knightstown and notable civic leader died Tuesday in Methodist Hospital Indianapolis after months of declining health. He served nine years on the Knightstown school board and was active in the Christian church and Kiwanis club. Survivors include his widow a son Richard two daughters Mrs Gest and Mrs Kaulker his mother two brothers and two grandchildren all of Knightstown. Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 30 p m in Knightstown.

Lions Host Busy Community Party in Rushville Area
The Lions club benefit party drew nearly 200 people from Carthage and nearby towns, raising 311 with proceeds from cat and coat check. A Monday dinner meeting at City Restaurant followed by a den session covered Red Cross drive and summer recreation plans led by Ora Clayton. Edward Frazee spoke on the Rush County Co‑op soybean plant and its oil and meat outputs.

1946 4 Her Tractor Maintenance Course Starts Soon
An Arlington led meeting for the 1946 4 H Tractor Maintenance Course approved enrolling 25 to 30 youth from the club and rural youths. The five session program begins March 15 at 7 30 PM at Wayman and Fred Mahan's home near Rushville with locations to follow including Arlington school March 22 and Leonard Booth's home March 29. The course, sponsored by Standard Oil, costs nothing to enrollees and covers tractor safety manuals fuel ignition cooling lubrication and winter care with eligibility limited to 4 H club or Rural Youth members who live or work on a tractor owning farm.
