Mothers of Carthage and Indianapolis women die in Indiana

Mrs. Maude Myers mother of Mrs. Stanley Palicki of Carthage died in Salem Indiana on Wednesday morning. She is at Hollis Funeral Home with arrangements unavailable at press time. Mrs. Wilson mother of Mrs. Ora Clayton of Indianapolis and former Carthage teacher died Tuesday at her Washington Indiana home. She rests at Gill's Funeral Home and funeral services will be Saturday at 2 PM at Antioch Christian Church northeast of Washington.

Friends Quarterly Meeting Held at Knightstown

The Spiceland Quarterly Meeting of Friends gathered Saturday at the Knightstown Friends Meeting with a morning program a noon dinner and an afternoon business session. Reverend Eugene Coffman of Richmond executive secretary for evangelism and church extension of Friends United Meeting shared color slides from Berlin taken during the World Congress of Evangelism in November 1966. Ten local Friends Churches were represented.

Alpha Zeta Chapter Initiated of Kappa Kappa Sigma

A new Alpha Zeta chapter of Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority was initiated Sunday in Oxford Ohio. A noon dinner in the Heritage Room at Miami University preceded the initiation by the grand council and installation of officers by grand president Audrey Myers. Reverend Guyatt to Show Africa Pictures at Carthage Church

Reverend Frank Guyatt will present Africa photographs taken recently for the Friends Mission in Kenya at Carthage Friends Church Sunday evening. A cooperative supper will be served at chapel at 6 p.m. with the program beginning about 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Everyone is invited to attend.

Lions Club Hosts Seniors and Guests in Carthage

The Carthage Lions Club entertained the Carthage High School Senior Class of 1967 and other guests at the Community Center Lions Den. After a steak dinner, Dan Hunt introduced the senior class, with sponsor Bob Edwards, and members, followed by a brief business session. The club approved expenses for school choral transportation to Rush County festivals and supported sending a Rush County representative to South America this summer, Miss Carol Norris of Manilla being the recipient. They also pledged to buy glasses for a needy local student. The program featured Rev. Frank C. Guyatt presenting African pictures about the evolving New Africa. Earlier, Mrs. Harold Macy hosted Charlottesville WCTU with plans for a local institute and messages of Christian living.

Family Night By Walnut Ridge Society

Walnut Ridge Missionary Society held a family night at the Community Center with a cooperative supper and program led by president Mrs. Enid Burkher. Mike and Margaret Henderson sang a vocal duet. Mr. Henderson spoke on devotionals from Philippians 2. Color slides by Russell Shutt Jr and Mr and Mrs John Hunt depicted a Jamaica trip and aid to the Friends parsonage in Quakerage, dismissed after prayer.

Legislative Diversion in 1967 Indiana Session

Representative Ray Richardson reports a divided 1967 Legislature passed limited controversial measures. Key actions included rewritten securities laws, a judicial reform amendment, revamped insurance, recodified corporate and local statutes, new highway safety laws, and a referen dum on pari mutuel betting. Tax relief measures paralleled a higher budget, while several controversial bills stalled or vetoed. Richardson notes four of his sponsored bills became law, including one reducing municipal bond litigation delays.
