James Earl Hyatt Born On Earl Herkless 90th Birthday

Mr and Mrs Myron Hyatt of Celina Ohio announce the birth of a son named James Earl weighing 6 lb 5 oz born Sunday March 5. He is the grandson of Mr and Mrs Joseph Alexander and great grandson of Earl Herkless of Carthage. The birth coincides with Mr Herkless 90th birthday.

Break‑in Reported at Homer Lumber Company

A break in at Homer Lumber Company was reported to the county sheriff Monday morning. Manager Robert Mohr found the entry at 7 30 a m with intruders entering over the roof and through an east window. Five cents plus four dollars remained in the cash drawer? (Note: OCR fragment). United Society of Friends Women met at Mrs Eugene I Gardner home with co host Ione Winslow Nine members attended.

Funeral for Robert Arnett Held in Sullivan Indiana

Mr and Mrs Frank Alexander and Mr and Mrs Paul Scott attended the funeral of Robert Arnett at Sullivan Indiana on Monday at 2 p m. Arnett was killed in a auto truck accident the preceding Friday. He was a nephew of Mrs Alexander and Mr Scott.

Gorman Cousins Attend Funeral for 20 Year Old Victim

Milroy and Waverly relatives attend the funeral of Marvin D. Gorman age 20 son of Elva and Pound Wisconsin residents. He was killed in a Friday 1:30 AM head on collision with Mrs Vic Lough of Green Bay Wisconsin who also died in the crash.

Easter Crusade at Walnut Ridge Church

Spelling Bee Honors Won by Rush County Students

Manilla School hosted the Rush County Spelling Bee last Friday night. Mary Beth Lines, an 8th grader from Milroy, won the Division II junior high title for the second year. Karen Turner, a 5th grader at Mays, captured Division I elementary top honors.

Scouts Hold Joint Meeting Banquet at East Street Church

The Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop plan a joint meeting at East Street Christian Church on Friday March 17 1967 at 6 30 p m. It is a pitch in supper with drinks provided by the committee. Parents are urged to attend for an awards banquet marking the 100th anniversary of the Scout movement.

Fitch Returns Home from Phoenix Trip

Fitch returned to his home on R. J. Carthage Friday from a three weeks business trip to Phoenix Arizona. He participated in training classes for Massey Ferguson Inc. A literary circle meeting followed the business by Mrs. Robert Walker who presented a paper on air pollution. Refreshments were served.

Four-H Training Officers Session At Carthage Academy

About 200 people attended an officers training school for 4-H clubs in Carthage. Sessions covered club offices with instructors including Philip Mitchell Milroy High School principal Steve Hahn David Huddleston and Lauren Liggett.
