The Indiana General Assembly adjourned after enacting an extensive reform package. It repealed the McNutt centralization act, reorganized state government, lowered the gross income tax for retailers and cleaners, established a merit system for state workers, and expanded local control of alcohol regulation. The session increased old age and blind allowances, extended relief programs, and approved a constitutional amendment for municipal government options. It revised unemployment laws, authorized a state guard, created a defense council, and adjusted motor vehicle tax plans. Good Friday was made a holiday and license plate deadlines set.

York Howard Dies Suddenly At Home
York Howard aged 40 died suddenly at his home on the V Wednesday night from a heart attack. He was an employee of the Container Corporation and awaited an eleven o clock night shift. He was married July 3 1920 to Mary Anne Morris and is survived by the widow two children Mrs Maxine Walden of New Castle and Eleanor Rose at home mother Mrs Rose Howard three sisters Mrs Pearl Enix. Funeral services will be held Saturday at two o'clock in the cemetery north of town with friends visiting at his home Thursday and Friday.

Last State Head To Be Inducted
Indianapolis plans show the induction of the last Republican state official elected last November. Dr. Clement T. Mahian of Terre Haute will take oath as superintendent of public instruction at noon next Saturday. Judge Edgar M. Blessing will administer the oath. Bilis Bell, new deputy, will assume duties alongside. Bell previously led Winchester city schools and is a Terre Haute State Teachers College alumnus. Aunt Bertha Trowbridge dies at 63 in Shelbyville
Mrs. Bertha Trowbridge 63 died Monday at Major hospital Shelbyville after illness since February 24. She was daughter of Nelson and Amanda White wife of Jesse Trowbridge who preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters Grace Beckner near Rushville and Gladys Newhouse Shelbyville, a granddaughter and a grandson. Funeral Wednesday at Center Christian Church with burial in Center cemetery. She was aunt to Vern Plummer of this place.

Indiana Sportsman Show to Feature New Department Exhibit
The Indiana Sportsman Show opens March 22 at the state fairgrounds with a new Department of Conservation exhibit. Frank N. Fred Jordan of Lyons Indiana owns Billy a Saanen billy goat whose milk capacity emerged at age three after pasture life. Billy seldom goes dry and freshens like a doe, siring over twenty kids. He typically freshens in August and produces milk eight to nine months yearly. Exhibited at several state fairs and known for good temperament and milk flavor.
