Mrs. Junior Porter and her children are in Indiana due to a death in the family.

93 year old Anna Phelps suffers broken hip at home
Mrs Anna Phelps aged 93 was found on the floor at her South Main Street residence Monday morning with a broken left hip. She was moved to Rush Memorial Hospital where the hip was set Tuesday morning and her condition was reported as good. Her room number is 226.

Soldier earns parachutist wings at Fort Bragg
Army Pvt. Michael C. Ruby, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde E. Ruby of Carthage Indiana, graduated from the 82d Airborne Division Jump School at Fort Bragg North Carolina on February 25. He completed four weeks of training and five parachute jumps to win his wings. Ruby, a 1958 Carthage High School graduate, entered the Army last June and did basic training at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. His wife Shirley resides in Fayetteville North Carolina.
