Dinner guests travel journey through Missouri towns
Mrs Gurney Swain, Herman Macy, Claude Rigsbee of Little Blue, and Rev E H Kennedy of Mt Etna attended a dinner hosted by Mrs Emma Fall and daughter. Mr and Mrs Mott Wyant and Mr and Mrs J A Cem of Anderson checked into Carthage Hotel Friday night. The party, en route from Chattanooga Tennessee, had been in August, traveling in a large covered rig drawn by mules.

The regular business meeting and social of the U P S C E occurred Tuesday night at Mr and Mrs 8 L Newsom. The Missionary department organized all features with shamrock invitations and Irish stone cards. Partners were matched by numbered shamrocks as guests described each other, followed by green and white refreshments and lively charades.

Fire Damages Drake Apartments In Early Morning Blaze
Mrs Edwin Drake from Indianapolis visited her parents Mr and Mrs W H Sharer this week. A fire at 3 am Tuesday last week damaged the Drakes apartment building forcing their escape by ladder. Lodger Miss Minnie Hill also left unharmed. Bathroom fixtures and furniture were ruined, but insurance covers losses. Overheated furnace caused the fire.

Town Board Advances Fire Safety and Public Exit Orders
The Town Board met in regular session Monday night and continued the fire cistern committee to the next meeting. It was decided that door swings outward and red lettered exits will be provided for a certain building, with other public buildings to follow. The town marshal was ordered to enforce the ban on firearms within corporate limits. Mrs Bert Wrennick departed for Madison Wisconsin to join her husband. Mrs Frank White and Loren attended a relative’s funeral at Nameless Creek yesterday.

David O White visited his brother Edward at New Castle where Edward bought a farm near Cadiz. Harry Hudson of Greenfield visited Rev Jared P Binford and repaired broom pipes. A B Standiford and family dined with Richard Harter Sunday.

The sale is for the National Electric Lamp Association at Cleveland Ohio, a firm connected to Roy D. Bundy brother in law of the promoter, who will leave Saturday night for Cleveland.

Small Blaze at John Tarbet's House
A Monday fire near John Tarbet's home was stopped before major damage. Soot from burning fire spread to the roof but was extinguished early. The whistle alarm prompted quick action and residents recall prior blazes at the Tarbet residence. East Street Church members are urged to attend a congregational meeting at the church on Thursday night March 14 to elect a new advisory board and address other business.
