Mrs. Iva Cook reports her son Donald, a recent Illinois University graduate, is connected with Long Street Abbott and Co and Laco Commodity Trading Councelling in St. Louis Missouri.
A 16mm sound motion picture titled Our Bible How It Came To Us will be shown at East Street Christian church Sunday evening March 6 at 8 pm. The 8 minute documentary covers 20 centuries in three parts formation of the Bible the Bible spreads across Europe and making of the English Bible. A silver offering will be taken.
Mr and Mrs Elmer Sandefur and daughter Carole Ann visited Radio Station WISH in Indianapolis to record a message for their son A 2e Marlin Sandefur stationed in Greenland. The message will be sent by short wave and broadcast on Easter Sunday at 1 30iau.

The advisory board and Trustee A. W. Winfield let school bus driver contracts after a second meeting on Tuesday night. Bidders were Route 1 Clarence Heim Route 2 Foster Wilson Route 3 Ralph Moore Route 4 Fred Parish Route 5 Charles Mosier. Contracts run during the 1955 to 1959 school terms.
A Friday blaze of unknown origin destroyed the Cambridge City high school and gym, built 1922, after water pressure dropped though the 1951 12 room addition was saved. Jackson Township Trustee Clarence Bryant was injured by a window shard. damage estimated at 400000 dollars. Fire crews from Richmond New Castle Hagerstown Centerville Williamsburg and Cambridge City fought the flames and had the fire under control then the spread occurred.
Rushville Lions defeated Carthage 57 49 to claim the sectional title. Carthage stayed close through three quarters but Rushville’s late scoring surge, including six field goals in the final period, sealed the win. Pat Watkins led Carthage with 17 points. Joe Dusing and Ray Campbell contributed for Rushville.
The Rushville District of the Indiana Conference of the Methodist Church will host its phase of the Indiana Conference Missionary Institute from March 6 to 8. News from Carthage reports the death of Mrs Nina Newsom Bryant from a heart attack at a daughter’s home in Pennsylvania. Funeral services were held in Cincinnati. She was a former teacher, daughter of Daniel and . Newsom, a Carthage resident who graduated from Carthage High School in 1892. Survivors include daughters Carolyn and Abbie and son Dr. Richard Bryant.
C. E. and Carthage Chapter No 574 Order of the Eastern Star holds a formal stated meeting Wednesday at 7 30 p m honoring Past Matrons and Patrons. It is the last meeting of the year and officers must turn in rituals. Members baking cookies for the Masonic Home should bring them to a King's home by Friday.

At the Indiana State Fairgrounds on March 1 swine men from 60 counties showed 767 hogs in the Sixth Hoosier Spring Barrow Show held in the Swine Barn. Sponsored by Purdue University Kingan Inc and the Indiana Swine Breeders Association the event aimed to focus breeders and pork consumers on the modern meat type hog. Winners included Leonard E. Jackson Route 2 Carthage who took several Crossbred Hampshires and Yorkshire prizes and a Reserve Champion in lightweight Yorkshire crossbreds.

Lynn Gardner and Don White of Mays schools won the Entomology Identification contest with 137 and 128 points as Kenneth Brashaber, Milroy instructor, oversaw. Milroy’s Jenny Boring and Martin Wright placed second, while others from Milroy and Washington Township participated. District contest is set for March 16 in Indianapolis with Carthage’s Lee Patton and county agent Hugh Morris arranging the event.
A barn on James McGeorge’s tenant farm east of Carthage burned last Friday afternoon. About 1500 bushels of corn hay and straw were lost. Edgar Brown family occupants had just returned home when the fire was found. Rural Carthage fire department trucks arrived too late to save the barn.
