Mr. and Mrs. Charles Roland of Indianapolis welcomed a 7 pound 13 ounce son named Scott Lee born Thursday March 2 1961 at Community Hospital Indianapolis. Grandparents are Mrs. Mable Manche and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Roland of Carthage.
Miss Judy Harrold of Carthage goes to Community Hospital Indianapolis for observation. Mrs Edna Windsor of Knights town, formerly Carthage, to New Castle Clinic for surgery. Fred Sandefur of Carthage suffers heart attack and is at St Johns Hospital Anderson. Miss Judy Kennedy of Carthage undergoes knee surgery at St Vincent Indianapolis in room 213. Mrs Blackburn Howard of Carthage returns home after surgery at Henry County Hospital.
Thirty Arlington Lions members attended the Carthage Community Center gathering Tuesday night February 28. After dinner Teen Tunes performed, and Lion Herman Parker introduced Dr. Wilbur Beeson of Greenfield who shared slides and spoke about his Kenya Colony visit in East Africa.
The Birthday Supper planned for March 3 at the Christian Church is postponed until further notice.
4 and Mrs Paul J Livingstone are parents of a 5 lb 13 oz son named Richard Paul born Wednesday March 1 at Henry Co Hospital. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Roy Robertson of Carthage and Mr and Mrs M E Livingstone of Brownsville Maine. E4 Paul J Livingstone is with the armed forces stationed at Okinawa.
Mrs Sam Nigh and Mrs Lewis Henderson will host the Carthage American Legion Auxiliary regular meeting on Monday March 6 at the Community Center.
The Carthage Band Boosters will meet at the school building on Tuesday March 7 at 7 30 p.m. The session covers band activities and support planning.
Mr and Mrs Roy Houchins of Lawrence announce the birth of a 9 pound 7 ounce son named Christopher Allan born February 23 at St Francis Hospital Beech Grove Indianapolis The baby is the grandson of Mr and Mrs Russell Shutt of Carthage.
Mr and Mrs Hubert Hunt hosted the Fidelity Class social with fifteen members Wednesday evening. Hunt presided and Mrs Hunt gave devotions as St Patrick s Day themed refreshments and games followed. Guests included Elmer Fenner Bob Nigh Robert Walker Marvin Johnson Paul Mayfield Jack Overman and Laura Sandefur.
Members of the Purdue Directory Committee will gather at the County Extension Office Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. to make corrections and additions to the directory of former Purdue Students in the county.
Boy Scout Troop 129 met at the library on Saturday February 25 conducted by the Panther Patrol. The group recited the pledge oath and laws, took roll call and dues, held a brief business meeting, and heard a prayer from Rick Patton. Scribe: Jerry May.

Arthur Binford age 70 of Piqua Ohio died last Wednesday in Piqua Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Carthage and attended Carthage High School Purdue University. Survived by sons Robert Los Angeles and William Santa Barbara. Burial followed at Crow Funeral Home in Piqua. He was a nephew of Myrtle Carfield of Carthage.
Lafayette Ind Purdue University reports 773 students earned the Distinguished Rating for the first semester of 1960 61. 119 achieved the top index of 6. Rush County members include James L Overman Carthage Log St and David L Johnson Rushville R 1 junior in electrical engineering and Robert E Jones Rushville senior in industrial education.
Phil Parrish and Ronnie Sullivan returned from Purdue University where they attended an eight week short course in agriculture and received completion certificates at a Thursday banquet.
Ronnie Fannin son of Mr and Mrs Herbert Fannin was chosen to represent Rush County at the Junior Leader Training School held Thursday at Richmond. He attended the all day training session designed to help boys improve as junior leaders.

Karen Ruble and Randy Ruble of Rushville were weekend guests of their sister Mrs Rex Edwards and family, staying through Monday. The visit included family time and shared meals with relatives in the area.
Thieves broke into the Henley Poolroom in Carthage early Thursday by prying a rear side door panel. They stole about $65 in coins including 11 two dollar rolls, nine silver dollars, and $3.50 in pennies, plus ten cartons of cigarets and two boxes of candy. Clarence Henley reported the break to State Police Detective Eugene Short. Marshal Hugh Trowbridge assisted.
Chicago February 20 Container Corporation of America announces a new corrugated packaging plant to be built in Houston Texas to serve south Texas. Operations begin about May 1 with local Fort Worth team to oversee, using printing slotter die cutting taping gluing and stitching equipment.

He trained at United Electronics Laboratories in Louisville for two and a half years and will repair all radio and TV sets including transistor radios.
