Annual Meeting of Earlham Foundation at State Bank of Carthage

The Earlham Foundation held its annual meeting at the State Bank of Carthage on June 21 to review present and future business. Attendees included Edward D. Evans Isaac E. Woodard John H. Johnson Alonzo M. Gardner president Wm Dennis Richmond Marvin Wildman Selma Ohio Edward Keen Muncie and treasurer Howard E Henley. The Henleys hosted a noon dinner for the distinguished guests.

Death of Myrtle Spacy in Indianapolis Hospital

Myrtle Spacy 32 of near Walnut Ridge died Sunday at Coleman Hospital Indianapolis after a month illness. She married Harley Spacy and they had seven children Eugene Helen Julia William Una Robert and Joretta who survive. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Fletcher M E church at 10 o'clock conducted by N S Schoolfield. Burial followed at Raleigh cemetery with D P Dunn as funeral director.

Henleys and Carrolls Picnic at Memorial Park Newcastle

Howard E Henley family and Lewis Carroll family of Knightstown joined Robert Henley family of Hartford City for a Sunday picnic in Memorial Park Newcastle. Former Home Boy Chosen Pastor for First Friends Church

Rev Hershell Folger unanimously selected as pastor of First Friends church in Indianapolis after nine teen applicants were considered by the Pastoral committee. Folger, from Carthage, previously led Wilmington Delaware Meeting for nine years and recently visited the Holy Land, with many friends wishing the couple continued success.

Car Crash at Mrs. Verna Hill's Corner

Last Thursday a coupe with four passengers skidded at Mrs. Verna Hill's corner and overturned after hitting the curb near Lovetts. About fifty people witnessed the scene two blocks away. The top was caved in but the car was driven away. the driver suffered a bruised arm while others were unhurt.

Dr F M Miller drove a Chevarlet into a barnyard at R C Smalls dairy Saturday to avoid a charging bull that dashed the vehicle against the barn wall. He used a pitch fork and knee action to subdue the beast as insurance questions loom over the damages.

Former Carthage Man Survives Near Channel S Boat Evacuation

R Byron Henley, auditor of Michigan Limestone and Chemical Co., spent eight hours at sea on Lake Huron after his non sinkable craft flooded and motor failed near Calcite. He rowed toward 40 Mile Point light, drifted parallel to shore, and landed near Trout River Point with coast guard and Calcite tugs assisting. friends teased him afterward while he joked about safety rules.

Children’s Day at Friends Church and Bible School

Minnie Adkins Dies After Cancer Battle at North Main Home

Mrs. Minnie Adkins aged from Rushville born 1872 died Thursday at 3 am at her North Main street residence after a two year cancer illness. She was married to Ed Adkins of Adams and lived in Carthage. The funeral will be Friday at 2 pm at the Friends Church with Rev. Nathan Pickett officiating, interment in Rushville cemetery.

Death of Willis Collins in Gwynneville

Willis Collins age seventy six died at his Gwynneville home Tuesday morning after a seven month illness. A resident of Gwynneville for nineteen years he was active in the U B church and the I O O F lodge in Arlington. He is survived by his widow and three nephews. The U B church service will be held Thursday at two o'clock conducted by Rev Swartz with burial in Asbury cemetery.
