Two Rush County exhibitors led the Hoosier Beef Show at Indianapolis with Grand Champion Angus steer among four displays by Golden Dawn Farms of near Carthage operated by Donald Staten Sr. and son. Their steers took champion Angus and multiple lightweight and heavyweight placings in the On Foot classes. Douglas Norris of Walker Township showed the first place heavyweight Short horn steer. All animals were steers and will be slaughtered for a carcass grade show to follow on Monday evening June 26.

United Fund Approves Budgets For Rush County Agencies

Carthage won both games at Mays diamond. In the opener Carthage scored in every inning to prevail 11 to 5 behind Lafuse and Rucker with Porter contributing a double and single. In the nightcap Carthage won 9 to 5 as Porter and Zimmerman sparked the offense while Lafuse struck out eight.

Two Elderly Women Hurt in Hancock County Crash
Two 78 year old women Iola Jessup Stafford and Etta M. Miller were injured Monday when their 1948 Plymouth was struck by a 1956 Mercury driven eastbound by Dorothy Leona Cazand at U S 40 and Range Line Road. The Stafford car crossed a motel lawn and ended in a wheat field. Both women were hospitalized with head injuries. Cazand was unhurt. Car damage was heavy on the Stafford vehicle and about 250 dollars on Cazad’s car.
