A large crowd attended the Arlington band concert with a second concert scheduled for Saturday night on the public square at 8 00. The program includes marches overtures ballads intermezzos and songs such as Federation Day The Bells Panora Song of Love From Blossom Time Indiana State Band Captain Loves Dream Cupids Charms Golden Friendships and the Star Spangled Banner.
Florence Hensley Ruth Hensley and Helen Hawkins left for Boulder Colorado to enter college when their car was hit broadside at a Red Oak intersection. The girls had the right of way and were not to blame. No injuries, two days delay for repairs, routes altered by high water via Iowa.
The Ripley Township Economics Club will meet next Thursday, June 20, at Mrs. John Butler s home with Mesdames Jesse Andis, Jesse Henley, Melvin Henley, and Murray Parker as hostesses. Guests day features a covered dish luncheon at noon and a special program in the afternoon.

Ross Parish moves his lunch room to West Mill Street and faces a beer license review sent to the State Alcoholic Beverage Commission. Multiple local families hosted visits and a county fish fry hosted by Kiger Woods near the city with all trustees and commissioners and their families as guests.
The Girl's State Fair School at the Indiana State Fair runs August 23 to September 6 in the Women’s Building. It covers meals, sewing, laundry, dormitory work, health, and recreation under Director Mrs. Calvin Perdue and a team of instructors. Scholarships total 100 to 50 dollars from several colleges, with six Honor Girls selected to lead six groups. Applications close July 1 and travel/tuition costs are covered by local clubs and organizations.
U S Department of Agriculture reports show the United States had 37 007 000 hogs on farms January 1 1935, down 20 170 000 from 1934. Indiana had 2 375 000 hogs on farms January 1 1935, 62 percent of 1934 totals, with values per head rising to 6 00 and total value 14 066 000 for 1935.

Miss O Mari DeSchipper, a philosophy major candidate for a bachelor of arts degree, is in this year’s graduating class at Butler University. Dr Charles W Gilkey of the University of Chicago will deliver the commencement address at Butler Fieldhouse on Monday June 17. Baccalaureate services are set for Sunday June 16 with Rev T K Smith of the Tabernacle Church of Christ Columbus delivering the sermon.
Betty Jane Moore and Ramonne Winfield were in Indianapolis on Wednesday. The brief notice places both individuals at the event city for the day.
Donkey baseball returns with Bar X Ranch troupe at Carthage school ground on June 16 under Kap pa Kappa Sigma Sorority. Teams ride unbridled donkeys in a regulation diamond game with a soft ball and two mounted players per side. Admission 25c and 10c.
Citizens urged to prevent typhoid this summer by killing flies and improving sanitation. The Medical Association cites progress in city typhoid mortality and urges screening of stables and homes, insisting every citizen must act to stop transmission.
Miss Edna Nelle Newsom daughter of Mr and Mrs Jesse Newsom and Mr Raymond C Kennedy son of Mr and Mrs Chas Kennedy were quietly married at the First Presbyterian parsonage Rushville Saturday morning at 10 Rev Gibson Wilson officiated Newsom a Carthage HS class of 1930 sorority Kappa Kappa Sigma Kennedy a Carthage HS class of 1924 will move to Miss Pearle Coffin’s property on South East Street.
Earl McCorkle son of Mr and Mrs Alonzo McCorkle and Miss Pearl Whitfield daughter of Mr and Mrs John Whitfield were married Sunday at 10 30 am in the Friends parsonage by Rev James Furbay. They will live with the groom's parents.
The Needletwisters met last Thursday at 9 30 a m in the school building for their third regular gathering. Lois Ruth White demonstrated the proper method to sew on a button and Greta Stevens showed the correct way to make stitches. Light refreshments were served by hostesses Jean Sewart, Martha Jo Bentley and Jean Porter.
Mr and Mrs Lowell Reeves and Mr and Mrs Floyd Reddick and son Roy spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs Ralph Stevens at Nor O. The gathering reflected a small community social.
The two week revival closes Sunday with strong rural attendance. Several converts join the church and a baptismal service will be held Sunday afternoon in the stream north of the church. The pastor speaks Sunday morning on Adventure With God and Rev. W. H. Funderburk preaches Sunday night. All are welcome.
Bible school attendance has stayed above 100 since the recent contest with Hannagan. No preaching this Sunday but the Bible school will present its program and then observe the Lord's Supper. Our softball team faces New Salem at Rushville Thursday night. The Mens’ Class hosts a father son banquet Friday. Children’s Day program set for June 23 at 7:30 p m.
The Sunday program at Friends Church changes with a morning worship led by Rupert Stanley, native of Carthage, formerly with Y M C A in Asia. Stanley, a pastor at Mt McGregor Sanatorium, will be joined by his family and holds degrees from Earlham College and City College of New York. A pastoral committee meeting follows the service. midweek services continue Thursday at 7 30. Children’s Day is set for June 23 with the full program by the Sunday school. Women’s Missionary Society meets Wednesday at Mrs. Lucille Phelps home with Mrs. Olive Drysdale leading.
The Fletcher M. E. Church reports a packed Sunday service with a wedding ceremony and floral decor. Guests included the bride and groom Raymond Wilburn along with extended family from Lamar and local members. Activities this week include Epworth League devotionals and captain elections, missionary meeting, midweek rehearsal, and Mounting Worship services with speaker Rev. Albert Byrne. Children and Father's Day programs are scheduled for late June.
Mrs Elizabeth Leisure is recovering after a period of illness. Miss Kathryn Hunt spends the week with Mr and Mrs Harold Hunt near Richmond. Mr and Mrs William Reddick and daughter Ruth Ann of Westland were Sunday dinner guests of Mr and Mrs Hunt.
