Mrs. William V. Howard broke her hip after a fall on Friday June 5 at Rush Memorial Hospital where she lies in room 242. William V. Howard was discharged from the Veterans Hospital Indianapolis last Friday and is reported as improved. Mrs. Gertrude Jessup is much improved and may be released from Community Hospital Indianapolis to return to the home of Mr and Mrs Cecil Pike.

Mother Cora Barber Dies at 84 in Indianapolis
Mrs. Cora Barber aged 84 died Saturday morning in Indianapolis after a few months illness. She is mother to Mrs. Vivian Wilson of Carthage and Mrs. Norman Hearne of Madison with five daughters and one son surviving. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Smyrna Monroe Presbyterian Church near Madison.

About 15 000 spectators expected for colorfully staged band contest at the Indiana State Fair from September 2 to 10. Carthage band led by Harold V Taylor with drum major 6 twirlers and a color guard will march on the 14th. Five national directors will judge for 1000 dollars in cash prizes and trophies. Previous winners include Anderson High School and Franklin High School.

Julian Overman Dies Wednesday in Indiana
Julian Overman 57 of Kingman Indiana died Tuesday morning at Robert Long Hospital Indianapolis after a three year illness of seventeen days. Born March 27 1902 in Carthage he was the son of Frank O Overman and Rose Price Overman. Survived by his wife Edrie Lowe Overman four daughters one son four grandchildren three sisters and one brother. Services Friday 2 p.m. at Hampton Funeral Home with Rev Robert Shockney. Burial Riverside Cemetery near Carthage.
