Howard Crussel begins duties as assistant agricultural agent for Rush County today. A Bartholomew County native, he previously served as Tipton County assistant agent after Purdue graduation in 1960. Crussel has 11 years in 4H Club work and four years with Rural Youth, plus dairy, corn, garden, tractor maintenance, forestry projects.

Local man sentenced for liquor DUI and driving offenses

SENTENCED Lewis Edward Gray Sr. was fined $10 and costs and sentenced to the farm for 90 days on a charge of driving while under the influence of liquor. He was fined $1 and costs each on two other counts reckless driving and driving while suspended. Gray, who resides at Anderson, was arrested recently following an accident near Carthage.

Quaker Men Hold Quarterly Meeting at Carthage Church

The Quaker Men met Tuesday evening at Carthage Friends Church for their regular Quarterly Meeting. President Omer Wicker of Westland Meeting called the gathering to order. Kenneth Pickering, Yearly Meeting General Superintendent, delivered a message titled Hands. Delegates from Charlottes ville Carthage Westland and Walnut Ridge meetings attended. Refreshments followed.

Beef cattle tour highlights county 4H events

The annual 4H beef cattle tour on Thursday June 1 drew about 30 people. Stops included Worth Hudson’s farm for calf judging tips, Lafuse's for feeding and record keeping, Kemple’s calf care talk, Elliott’s beef project health papers, and Angle’s show fitting demonstration. Wrightsman Secures Delta Air Lines Station Agent Post

Jerry C. Wrightsman, son of Mr and Mrs Leonard C Wrightsman of South Walnut Street, has been assigned as Station Agent for Delta Air Lines. He will serve at Indianapolis Municipal Airport.
