Twelve Garden Club members journeyed Tuesday to the Grant Henderson Botanical Gardens and Woodlark Land near Greensburg. They enjoyed a picnic lunch at noon with attendees named: Mesdames Forrest Beck Donald Ruby Loyal Hunt Guy Ewing Wilbur McCorkle Albert Ray Stella Humes Forrest Moore Fred Flick Harold Ruby Iva Cook and Ruth White.
Mr and Mrs Bob Edwards and their children of Carthage returned home Sunday night from a week long vacation visiting sites in Kentucky including Old Kentucky Home Bardstown Lincoln s birthplace Hodgen sville Elizabethtown and Louisville. They also stopped at Santa Claus Indiana Evansville and French Lick.
Rain washed out two opening games on the local softball diamond but the home team hopes to play next Wednesday night. The Thomas Market team from Shelbyville, which beat the local squad Wednesday night at Arlington, is scheduled to appear here at 7 45 p.m.
Mrs Russell Roland of R J Carthage underwent major surgery Wednesday at Henry Co Hospital in New Castle.
Mrs Raymond Kennedy drew a top ten winning entry from Marhoefer Packing Co to receive two tickets to the 500 mile race two box lunches and an 8 pound ham. She and her son Lynn Kennedy enjoyed Memorial Day races attendance.
The Methodist Sunday School Juniors gathered last Wednesday at Mr. and Mrs. Carl Carson Jr. and family for a social and supper. Attendees included Nicky Chance Daryl Carson Danny Edwards Randy Nigh Martin Roland Debbie Wells Ric Winters Mark and Roger Carson.
Mr and Mrs Raymond Kennedy and Lynn Kennedy of Ball State University accompany Miss Judy Kennedy to Weir Cook Airport early Saturday. She departs by TWA jet for Boston to begin a three month psychiatric clinical at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center.
Mr and Mrs Wm Fred Magee and daughters Marsha and Debbie returned to Carthage last Friday after a week long trip to Bay Beau Michigan to visit their son Abe Magee his wife and son Brent Thomas

Gary R. Siler of Carthage is among 220 plus graduates from 21 states and seven countries at Tri-State College Commencement on June 5 in Angola Indiana. Dr. Richard Bateman president and Dr. B R Teare Jr will speak and confer honorary degrees on three engineers including Michael Baker Jr John S Gregory and Ralph E Neidig. Siler graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration focusing on Motor Transportation Administration. He held student leadership roles and is a 1961 Carthage High School graduate.
Miss Marilyn Pitts was guest of honor at a Tuesday evening bridal shower at East St. Christian Church Carthage. Pink and white decor graced the gift table napkins and refreshments. Guests enjoyed three contests with prizes to Miss Karen Petty Mrs Noah Brooks and Mrs Bob Potts Huntsville.

Carthage opens 1965 season in Arlington League with a 7 4 loss to Thomas Market of Shelbyville. Shutt leads Carthage with three hits including a double as Dick Patterson and Muir also doubled. Paul Kuhn collects three safeties for Shelbyville including a double and a triple.
Clara T. Sigler 83 of Knightstown died Thursday in the Jackson Nursing Home Rushville where she had resided since a fall a week earlier. She and her late husband Charles B. Sigler ran a Knightstown jewelry store for 30 years. Survived by son Paul Sigler of Knightstown.
The 1965 Summer Instrumental Band program runs from June 7 at the Carthage Band room with beginner schedules through July 1. Sessions run Mondays Tuesdays and Thursdays featuring named instructors for Woodwind Drums Brass and other classes. Openings for six beginners remain. contact Mr Bob Edwards before June 7. Junior and High School Band rehearsals start June 14.

Jr. High and Little League play begin June 8 with multiple 1:30 pm or 2:00 pm starts through July, with practices set Monday and Wednesday mornings and afternoons.
