Vacation Bible School starts Monday June 4 at Walnut Ridge Friends Church with registration day. Classes begin at 8 30 am and run after. All are welcome to join even if you do not have a Bible School.
Mr and Mrs Ralph Truitt announce the wedding of their daughter Sue Ann to Kenneth Land on June 10 at 2 30 p m in the Fletcher Methodist church. The public is invited.
Mrs Julia McMichael has accepted the office nurse position for Dr Melvin H Denny of Rushville. Her duties commence Monday June 4.
Rev. Luther Cantwell district superintendent of the Indianapolis District of the Church of the Nazarene will deliver the 10 30 morning worship service June 3 at the local Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Gerald Fleming pastor invites worshippers to attend.
Mr. Hugh Roberts underwent surgery Thursday morning at Rush Memorial hospital and was listed as an inpatient.
The junior band meets 5 p.m. and the senior band 7 p.m. from June 4 to 28 and August 6 to 30, on Mondays Wednesdays and Thursdays. The senior band will perform after the Carthage Green field baseball game on June 28. In August the high school band begins State Fair contest and parade prep.
Carthage High School defeated Spiceland 4 to 1 on Wednesday of last week correcting a misprint that said they lost. The game update confirms the victory and clarifies the prior report.
Mr and Mrs Hubert Hunt and daughter Pamela returned Tuesday from a week in New York where they attended several TV shows. They appeared on the Garry Moore Forum and enjoyed sightseeing during the stay.
Mrs James Terhune leaves Rush Memorial hospital and returns to her Carthage home on Thursday.
Dr Norbert Talbert completes his third year as pastor at St Pauls Methodist Rushville and is transferred from the Indiana Conference to the North Indiana Conference to serve First Methodist Huntington. Rev E Stanley McKee of Fort Wayne will succeed him at Rushville.
Ross Manche Bill Miller and Gary McClurg attended the 500 race. Ed Bly was summoned to Converse Sunday due to his mother Mrs F J Bly's serious illness.
The Class of 1945 holds a reunion on Sunday June 3 meeting at the school building at 11 00 a m The group will go to the home of Donald Sto ten Jr for a pitch in dinner All members and their families are invited Alice Hankins secretary treasurer.
The regular stated meeting of Rush Lodge No. 580 F and AM will be held on Wednesday June 6 at the lodge hall. W H Barbour secretary.
Mrs. Forrest Moore attended a luncheon Tuesday at Mrs. Cleve Geise's home honoring the past presidents of the Home Economics Club.

Ora Clayton announces a summer baseball and recreation program for 5th through high school levels. A league with area high schools provides competition. tentative schedules show multiple games at New Salem, Arlington, Greenfield, Charlottesville, Spiceland, and Mt. Comfort with practice days and times noted.
At 4 30 PM Saturday in Arlington the ceremony joined Mrs. Marjorie Eileen Drake of Arlington and Garrett Maynard of Greenfield with Rev. Robert Schoiidelmayer officiating. Mrs Maynard wore a pink and white nylon dress with white accessories and orchid corsage. Attendants included Mrs Pete Maynard and Pete Maynard. Mrs Maynard is Jo seph Graff of Carthage niece.
A sermon on the Lord's Prayer urges deeper study and consistent use of the prayer. It highlights unity as children of God, the call to do His will, daily bread, and forgiving debts. The speaker invites daily practice and a forgiving spirit in worship and life.
The Lions Club at Carthage held a regular meeting at the Community Center and installed new officers for the coming year led by Rushville Zone Chairman Kenneth McCulley. Clyde Elmer Ruby was named president and 2-year director names included Thomas Bush and Ross Tweedy. The club approved funding for two school buses to transport a local band and planned to sponsor an eye exam and glasses for a boy in the Carthage School.
Indiana fryer markets opened steady to firm with good demand and ample supplies. Purdue extension poultryman reports 274,505 Hoosier-raised fryers sold Friday and Monday for Monday marketing. Farm prices show White Rock Caponettes heavy 26c, lighter 24c, fryers 23 23½c, White Rocks 21 22c. heavy hens 20-24c, Leghorns 13-17c. Graded egg market steady with new levels.
Mr and Mrs Robert Campbell and their three children from Crawfords ville were Sunday guests of Mr and Mrs Lewis Lafuse and family.
A car owned by Earl Gribbons backed across Hill Street, jumped the curb, and crashed into the south entrance of Carthage Hardware last Sunday night about 9 30 leaving $500 to $600 damage. The wreck followed 12 year old Jerry Gribbons starting the car. Town Marshal Trowbridge investigated the incident.
Purdue economist M. Paul Mitchell reports in Lafayette that grain markets showed large day to day fluctuations with wheat rebounding on demand and poor weather. Hog prices rose above 16 to 18 dollars while cattle and lambs showed mixed moves as feeder demand and supply expectations shift.
Purdue extension dairyman G A Williams urges Indiana dairymen to harvest and feed surplus grass as hay grass or silage to cut milk costs. Proper timing of harvest minimizes losses and maintains palatability. Rotating pastures and using silage can stabilize summer and winter production despite seasonal forage changes.

Delmar Sipes and daughter Patricia fished and visited friends at Oolitic and Bedford Friday to Sunday. James Ellis and son Jimmie were among Carthage attendees at the 500 race in Indianapolis.
A Miss Rush County pageant will be held at the Princess Theatre in Rushville on Wednesday June 13. Eligible entrants are Rush County women aged 18 to 28, single or married, with no talent required. The winner receives more than 250 dollars in prizes and advances to the state contest, plus an expense paid trip to Indianapolis for Miss Indiana.

Signs include loss of appetite thirst refusal to drink and staggering. untreated cases lead to coma and death but prompt treatment can save the cow.

Norman Roland Jr celebrated his 12th birthday as guests attended church and youth fellowship. Eugene Wilson Clevidence and Morgan families visited Kokomo and Pendleton area relatives. Memorial Day gatherings included Mrs Dean and Garland families from north Salem and Indianapolis guests.
