Midwest Dirt Track set for three cornered auto duel

Harold Shaw of Indianapolis Charlie Szekendy of South Bend and Bob Simpson of Waterford Mich lead a three way race for top honors at Columbus Indiana with Rex Easton of St Louis entering. Simpson holds the Midwest point lead but Shaw could threaten if he wins. The first of five events starts at 2 30 p m with qualifying from 11 a m.

Road 67 Modernization Nears Completion Links Indy and Vincennes

The Indiana State Highway Commission announces a five mile section of Road 67 near August opening to traffic, completing paving from Martinsville northeastward. Calumet Paving Co. held the contract. the project eliminates railroad crossings and widens bridges, shortening travel between Indianapolis and Vincennes and advancing a direct route toward Evansville.
