Ripley Boosters 4-H Meets at Carthage School

The Ripley Boosters 4-H club met July 23 at Carthage school with 20 members and one guest. President Stephen Hunt called the meeting to order and led singing, with John Stanley leading the pledges to the American and 4-H flags. Donald Cooper resigned as news reported. Marilyn Jo Gray was appointed reporter. Older members were assigned to mentor younger ones. Larry Manche and Richard Myers then led games.

Band Concert This Saturday In Downtown District

A band concert will be held in the downtown business district Saturday night at 7 30. This is the second concert of the summer season. The final summer practice occurs Thursday night. Senior Band members missing more than three practices will receive a white stripe for their band suits.

Soldier Killed East of Arlington in Highway Crash

Charles Walker Allen aged 20 a soldier returning to Fort Leonard Wood Missouri after fur lough was killed instantly Tuesday morning when his motorcycle crashed into a truck east of Arlington on U S 52. State Trooper Walter Love said Allen likely dozed and the truck driver swerved to avoid the collision. The accident marked Rush County's third traffic death of the year.

Beth Meal Wins Dress Revue in Rush County Contest

Beth Meal of Orange Township was named champion and Martha Deerin of Center Township reserve champion at the Rush County Dress Revue held Monday night in Rushville High School gym. Beth will represent local 4 H clothing girls at the State Fair Dress Revue on August 30. Martha is the state event alternate. 66 girls competed in private judging with 40 plus in the honor group.

District Gold Medal Calf Show slated for Aug 1 at Rushville

Two hundred ninety gold medal calves entered for the East Central Indiana District Gold Medal Calf Show to be held during the Rush County Fair. Entries reflect nine counties with Rush County leading at ninety five calves. Judging starts at 9 a.m. with Forrest Johnson of Lafayette as judge.

Rush County Fair opens Monday and filing deadlines posted

The Rush County extension office announces local fair entries due Friday July 25 for 4 H and open classes to be eligible to show. State fair entries are due August 8 with catalogs and blanks available at the county extension office. The local fair runs July 28 through August 1, 1952.

Kin of Ging Mourns Death in Korea Reaches Carthage Area

Gail Ging visited relatives in the Carthage area after learning of cousin Wayne Ging's death in Korea. He spoke with Mr and Mrs Rea Ging of Gings and Mildred Noble, a former Carthage high school student, who attended school briefly here. He also called on Mr and Mrs Carl Ging of Falmouth.

Fidelity Club Holds Tuesday Meeting At Rhodes Home

The Fidelity class gathered at Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Rhodes home on Tuesday night at 8 p m with Ruth Hunt in charge. Connie Fenner led roll call and read minutes while Kenneth Rhodes gave devotions. Two contests awarded prizes to Ruth Hunt and Florence Porter as thirteen members enjoyed refreshments. Laura Benson attended the Clark reunion at Riley Park Greenfield with guests from eight towns.
