The On the Beat item announces a full day at the Little Blue River Church of Christ. On Sunday July 21 the program includes a Bible study at 10 am worship at 10 45 am communion a 12 30 pm basket dinner and a hymn sing at 2 30 pm Everyone is invited to attend.
Mr and Mrs John Whitfield and Mr and Mrs Richard Whitfield with family spent two weeks in Florida visiting Beulah Whitfield and Mike at White Springs and Edgar Denton at Astis. They also saw Eddie Carter, former residents, and Beulah Whitfield returned to Carthage with her son after the trip.
Mrs Henry Stenger entered Rush Memorial Hospital Saturday. Mrs Elmer Hunt recovering from surgery at Hancock Co Memorial Hospital. Ben Neal returned home this week from Rush. Eva Leisure entered Rush Memorial Hospital for observation. Maude Porter shows improvement at Rush Memorial Hospital.
Born Wednesday at Hancock Memorial Hospital Greenfield a son to Mr and Mrs Ronald Sull ivan grandson of Mr and Mrs Elmer French and Mr Mrs Leonard Sullivan Mr and Mrs Harold Sears R R 2 Carthage. Dale May hosted Bobby May's fifth birthday party Wednesday afternoon with guests John Brent Gardner Kevin Pearson Chris Alexander Pat Carroll Bill Windsor Ricky Joe Jackson of Knights town and Bobby's brothers Jerry Jeff and Stevie. treats included ice cream cake and Kool Aid and gifts for the honoree.
Mr and Mrs Lowell Brown and children Linda and Jerry with Marilyn Fancher of Arlington and Brian Hampton of Carthage spent a week at Lake Freeman. Mr and Mrs Frank Hampton and sons Tracy and Rick and Joe Whitfield visited them Thursday and Friday.

Mr and Mrs Jess Mourey hosted a Sunday dinner for their children and families. Attending were Mr and Mrs Hugh Roberts, Mr and Mrs Gene Richmond and daughters from here, Lowell Bramel of Waynesboro Pennsylvania, Mrs Robert Gard and sons from New Castle, and Mr and Mrs John Goble of Knightstown. Mrs Gard's husband returned Monday from thirteen months Army duty in Korea.
The Past Matron and Patrons and families enjoyed a bountiful social at Rushville City Park on Sunday. Attendees included Donald Liebrandt and family with Scott Manlove as guest, Donald Fancher, Darrell Rowan with family, Sue Haywood of Indianapolis and Mark Stewart, Jack Overman and son, Vinton Hudson with family, Raymond Kennedy and family, and Paul Scott with Mike and Sherry Mc.
Robert Wright, Ripley Township vocational agriculture teacher, attended the 49th annual Indiana Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association convention at Purdue. About 300 Indiana teachers registered, as Lt. Gov. Richard O. Ristine urged rural education to seize opportunities in growing livestock, crops, and rural industry, stressing farm youth skills and community diversification.
Brookville voters approved the establishment of three metropolitan districts by a 78 to 16 vote. The districts include Laurel Salt Creek Metamora and Posey townships. Brookville Blooming Grove Highland Fairfield and part of Butler townships. and Springfield and Whitewater townships. Mrs Paul W Linton dies at 71 after long illness in Shelbyville.
The Junior Ripley Boosters 4-H Club met Friday July 12 with Tom Pearson presiding. Kim Lafuse led the flag pledge and Phil Campbell the 4 H pledge. Four demonstrations were presented by Malinda Lafuse Jerry Dixon Marty Matlock and Kim Lafuse. Members were reminded to bring record books for July 25 and projects due dates July 26 July 29. Refreshments were provided by Jerry Dixon Tom Blessinger and Chuck Henley. Next meeting is July 25 at 7 30 pm in the Agriculture room with Mike Joseph David Whitfield and Deryl Souder as refreshments committee. Attendees included Jim Campbell Phil Campbell Dale Copple Jerry Dixon John Ewing Charles Henley Malinda Lafuse and guest Kim Tweedy.
Zona White hosted the Charlottesville W C T U regular meeting on Thursday. Members sang hymns Constantly Abiding and Take My Life and Let It Be. Attendees discussed current events, railroad strikes, student dropout rates, drinking, crime on TV, and radio optimism about temperance. Ethelda Stewart led the lesson. Ethel White gave the closing prayer. Refreshments were provided by the hostess.
Mrs Ruth Byrd and daughters Barbara and Loraina travel from San Diego to visit her parents Mr and Mrs Lewis Henderson and family. The trip was made by jet plane and showcases a family reunion style visit with relatives during the week.

Mrs. Clara Delinger spent Tuesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Cook, sharing a day of sociable calls and conversation with the couple.
Rush County Boy Philip L. Hester of Arlington Indiana trains at Lockbourne AFB Ohio for four weeks of indoctrination in AFROTC operations. He attends Indiana University and is the son of Mr and Mrs Everett W Hester of Arlington. He will be eligible for appointment as an Air Force second lieutenant after college graduation.
Carthage defeated Manilla 12 to 3 as seven runs in the sixth inning sealed the win. Winning pitcher Kit Porter limited opponents to four hits with no walks while Carthage totaled nine hits. Extra base hits included doubles by Steve Ellis and Ron Back and a Porter triple.
Morristown handed Carthage its second defeat of the summer 9 to 8. The visitors rallied for five runs in the final inning. Carthage’s top hitters were Mike Joseph Warren Nigh and Mike Back.
The Methodist Youth Fellowship held a backwards meeting July 15 with benediction by Reta Stanley and adjournment move by Frances Magee. Roy Stanley led a juvenile delinquency lesson before the guest speaker, also Roy Stanley, and Bernice Griffin led songs.
Carthage defeated Mays 9 to 2 to notch its second win in the week. Mike Lafuse and Kit Porter combined for six hits and nine strikeouts against Mays. Porter and Craig Lafuse led the offense with two hits apiece as Carthage improved to 8 and 2 in the summer league.
Mays A sparked a late rally but the locals lost 12 11. Carthage top hitters Porter and Kim Lafuse each collected two hits.
Morristown Five scored five runs in the final inning to defeat the local Junior High squad 10 to 4. Carthage managed four hits off winning pitcher Bush. Jim Edwards collected two hits for the losers.
A community letter from Ripley Township Trustee Robert E. McKain thanks Mr Smith Mrs Jordan and others for efforts to improve school finances and facilities. It notes donations from the Improve Ripley Field Committee Carthage Lions Club and Contain er Corporation and outlines upcoming staff letters and potential reorganizations.
Finley Sonny Smith Jr. and Michael Magee appeared before Judge William F. Marshall in Rush Circuit Court. Smith received 110 years for concealing stolen goods and had a prior 2 to 5 year burglary suspension revoked. Magee got a one-year term at Putnamville State Farm. Both terms run concurrently at Pendleton Reformatory.
Mr and Mrs Caleb Marsh Mr and Mrs Keith Ray and Mr and Mrs John Wood attended the Cincinnati St Louis baseball game in Cincinnati Tuesday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Mike Watkins and children join Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Mosier for Mrs. Ralph Mosier's birthday at their Greenfield home. Guests include Mr. and Mrs. James Mosier from Greenfield and visitors from Carthage and Fort Wayne. Additional dinners and visits noted in Aurora and Batesville.
The Rush County Fair Queen Contest draws 29 entrants for Miss Rush County of 1963. The event, July 25 at 8:00 p.m. in Memorial Gym Rushville, features formal and bathing suit rounds plus interviews at a precontest tea. Miss Suzanne Northam will crown the new queen who will represent Rush County at the State Fair Queen Contest. admission is fifty cents.
Enrolled students Eloise Hodge R F Rushville Helen Spright Milroy and Janet Shutt Carthage study the Carl Orff approach at Ball State Teachers College. The ten day workshop July 22 to 31 features Fraulein Lotte Flach of Salzburg as guest instructor marking her first U S appearance. Candace Ramsey Ball State music teacher leads workshop with Orff faculty of six instructors.
Real estate activity in Rush County for June dropped to the lowest level in eight months, with $157,700 in transactions. City properties accounted for $40,000, suburban and non farm deals totaled $45,200, and farm sales reached $72,500, including a $30,000 large sale. Notable transfers include Floyd P and Nellie B Newsom and Howard A Newsom selling tracts to Arthur H and Lillian S White, plus Frank O Mourey selling Lot 132 in Henley and Clark's Addition.
Mr and Mrs Joe Graff and Steve Smidth son of Mr and Mrs Bill Smidt of Indianapolis with Miss Karen Graff returned home Friday after a several days vacation at the Jack Fagel cottage at Silver Lake.
