The Mixers Home Demonstration Club met July 6 1956 at Virginia Whitfield’s home. Joenita Schnieder led opening prayers and the Creed. Virginia Whitfield gave devotionals. The lesson on Table Decorations was presented by Gladys Butler and Maxine McDaniel. Eunice Ewing led the song Columbia the Gem of the Ocean and provided its history. A donation was voted for the Salvation Army Building. The group planned a joint picnic with the Ripley club for 4 H girls and appointed Eunice Ewing Mary Bush and Joyce Harrold to arrange details. Butler and Mann reported on the State Conference with Mann selecting Safety in the Kitchen. Next meeting July 26 at Joenita Schnieder’s for a pitch-in dinner. New member James Dalrymple joined. The Carthage squads posted mixed results with the 5th and 6th losing to Knightstown in two games, the 7th and 8th sweeping Greenfield and Charlottesville, and the high school team dominating league play by whitewashing Mt. Comfort and Spiceland. Knightstown hammered Carthage 32 6 in Friday’s 5th 6th clash, then won 14 6 on Wednesday. Carthage battled back to beat Greenfield 8 5 and Charlottesville 7 0. The high school group routed Mt. Comfort 7 0 and Spiceland 12 0, aided by walks and miscues by opponents.

Miss Helen Weaver died in Indianapolis last week. Services were held Thursday at Flanner Buchanan Fall Creek Mortuary. Local Women Escape Injury After East Washington Crash
Five local women from Knightstown escaped with only minor bruises after a car struck by a semi-trailer on East Washington Street in Indianapolis at about 11 00 a m. Miss Shar lee Kyser drove the car and Miss Kyser, Mrs Gouldie Kyser, Hattie Innis Stella Humes and Alta Carr were in the group. Damages to the Kyser vehicle were substantial but all occupants avoided hospitalization. Police investigated a second crash witnessed at the scene where a man suffered a heart attack and his car hit a pole.
