The Carthage Cub Scouts hosted a three‑den summer Olympics at the school grounds on July 1. Rush County Band Invited to IU Stadium Opening
Rush County high school bands receive invitations to Indiana University's Band Day Festival on October 15 at the new 48 000 seat stadium. The event follows last year’s Parade of 6 090 bandsmen and twirlers from 107 Hoosier high schools, signaling a larger turnout for the stadium debut. The new athletic plant, north of campus, includes parking for 14 000 cars and future facilities such as an 18 000 seat basketball arena and an Olympic sized outdoor pool.

Wrestling Event Planned for Rush County Fair
The Indiana Wrestling Associated signed a contract for a wrestling match Thursday at the Rush County Fair. The Fair Board approved the deal at the June 29 meeting in the Extension Office. Tickets go on sale in advance with Orval Wisler handling ticket sales and Howard Kennedy leading ushers. A concessions area will operate at the race track and livestock pavilion during events. The fair runs July 24 to 29 with a queen contest opening the week and vendors preparing displays.
