Indiana closes raccoon season on January 31 at noon

The Fish and Game Division of the Indiana Department of Conservation reminds coon hunters that the official raccoon hunting season ends Friday January 31 at noon. Donald E. Foltz, Director, says there are no plans to extend the season. The season began November 15 and requires only the basic $2.50 hunting and fishing license, with no special permit needed.

The Carthage Lions Club welcomed Knightstown Lions Club for a Monday night meeting at the Community Center. Lion President James Wells led a brief business session and an attendance draw awarded the kitty to a Knightstown member. Rev Chapman Dies While Vacationing in Florida

The Rev. Chapman died Sunday during a vacation in Lakeland Florida. A native of New York he was the husband of Helen Chapman and brother of Jane Leonard of Lakeland. Funeral services will be in the Friends meeting house with burial in Paoli Community Cemetery.

Judge James C. Cooper Seeks Indiana Supreme Court Nomination

Judge James C. Cooper announced his candidacy at the Republican State Convention for the Indiana Supreme Court seat in the Second Judicial District. Tax Exemptions Open For Filing In County

Arthur Malson county auditor announces that tax free real estate exemption applications may be filed now through May 15. Eligible properties include churches cemeteries lodges and other buildings for religious charitable educational literary or scientific use. governmental units are excluded. A separate form is required for each township or taxing district and a fifty cent fee is charged. Forms are available in the auditor's office and a representative should sign exemptions.
