Bloomington Ind Cadet Malcolm K Beckner son of Mr and Mrs William H Beckner of RR has completed his first solo flight under the Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps at Indiana University He studies business and is a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and the Arnold Air Society A Arlington High School graduate and salutatorian.

Carthage Raiders defeated Morton to win the Rush County Tournament. All ten Raiders scored except Dan Hunt who sat out the last three. Patterson hit two late threes and New Salem struggled with 10 errors as Carthage built a halftime 25-12 lead through fast breaks and defense.
