Miss Pam Hunt of Carthage joined Miss Gloria Gordon and Miss Alice Brown of Connersville for an evening of entertainment at a Bankers' meeting held Tuesday night at the Madison Country Club.
Seventeen members attended the January session of the Methodist Friendship Class at the church addition Tuesday evening. Hostesses were Mr. and Mrs. Edward Fenner Mrs. Russell Roland and Mrs. Dortha Miller. The group recited the creed and heard devotions, then received new year books. A brief business meeting followed and prizes were awarded for contests conducted by Mrs. Fletcher Edwards.
Sunday guests attended the dedication service of the new Educational Building at Seymour. Rev Kenneth Kuebler was installed by his father Rev Robert Kuebler of Richmond Michigan. Guests included Elmer Fenner family and others from Seymour Acton and Franklin.
Deputy Harvey Faurote investigated a break-in at a not yet open bowling alley under construction about 1.5 miles north of Carthage on Knightstown road. A new amplifier record player and microphone were stolen. entry was gained by prying the rear door with a crowbar. The theft likely occurred between Sunday and Wednesday night.
Fred Zimmerman former manager at Carthage Hardware is convalescing at the Veterans Hospital in Fort Wayne after several weeks of sickness with no change in condition Roy Robertson shows slow improvement at Irene Byron Hospital near Fort Wayne Mrs Judy Cox of Indianapolis daughter of Mr and Mrs Earl Addison is convalescing at Coleman Hospital from two major operations Myrtle Miner formerly of Carthage now in Cincinnati underwent major surgery Monday at General Hospital Building B 3 Room 319 Celia Alexander has been convalescing at home for several weeks
The Charlottesville Friends Church will screen the film Petra on Sunday evening January 23 at 7 30. The film portrays the forgotten city carved from rock and uncovered in recent years. Rev N M Bodenhorn of Anderson will speak and present a prophecy chart. All are invited.
The Chi Rho met Monday evening at the church with two adults and thirteen members present. Jerry May led the Christian flag pledge and Sherry McKain led the Bible pledge. Jane Onzell and Billie Henley led songs, Arlene Raby played piano for the final song, and Billie Henley offered prayers. Sally Bush and Julie Ewing served refreshments.
The Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority members will conduct the March of Dimes Drive for polio again this year.

Carthage High School juniors and seniors and sponsors toured the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis. They viewed the Governor’s Office, met Governor Welsh, and observed the Senate and House as they learned how a bill becomes law.
Mrs. Lowell Innis of Anderson township was elected president of the Rush County 4H Club Council on January 16. Other officers named were Jack Knecht vice president Mrs. Albert Brune secretary and Clarence Dyer treasurer. Directors chosen for three years include John R. White and Mrs. Caroline Kuhn Ertle Price and Mrs. Marion Liggett. The council discussed revisions to bylaws and set dates for a March 3 training school and July dress revue and community judging.
The County Extension Service and Home Demonstration Clubs announce an Enrollment Party for young homemakers. It will be held Wednesday evening January 25 at 7 30 p m in the Court House Home Economics Room. Topics and dates for five lessons will be explained.

Purdue University economists report the Indiana farm price index for mid November to mid December 1960 fell from 229 to 228 as grain prices rose while hog prices dropped. Purchasing power stayed the same. U.S. farm price indexes rose one percent. Grain gains outweighed hog losses with corn up ten percent and apples up nine percent while hogs fell six percent.

County agricultural agent C L Spuller announced a County Extension School on Capital Requirements and Financial Planning to be held at the Rush County Courthouse assembly room on Wednesday evening January 25. R N Weigle of Purdue University will conduct the session covering economic conditions for farmers, capital needs of farm organizations, capital income ratios, best use of limited capital, farm management, financial records, and borrowing and repayment expectations. Farmers and others are invited to attend.

Purdue Extension Economist R N Weigle will lead, focusing on farm finance cash flow, borrowing limits, and record keeping for land, buildings, fertilizer, and machinery. Attendees include farm operators and owners with DHIA dairy updates and milk testing procedures highlighted.
Bill Robertson son of Mr and Mrs Roy Robertson of Carthage was honorably discharged from the Army last Friday January 13 at Yuma na.
Indiana dairy herds fell from 581 207 milk cows in 1954 to 411 273 in 1959 a 29 percent drop while average income per cow rose from 149 to 212 dollars a 42 percent gain. Elkhart County had the most cows 12 484 in 1959 up from 15 501 five years earlier. Purdue extension dairyman S M Gregory cites factors behind the decline including tighter production checks high capital needs and labor relief seeking farmers leaving the dairy business. Electronic data processing for herd records may help growers cut costs and improve profitability.

Farm sales accounted for about 107000 dollars, non farm categories about 71 000 dollars each, and the November total was 167000 dollars. Transactions include Ross and Goldin Parish, Henry County, selling to Cecil and Josephine Hamilton, and Mabel Hedgecock selling to Howard Mann for a tract near Main and Clark streets in Carthage.
Robert E White of Ripley Township will be honored at Purdue University this week during Farm Science Days for earning his first Distinguished Purdue Ag certificate. He earned a Gold Medal in the Gold Medal Commercial Lamb Club a Green Gold Medal in the 5 Acre Corn Yield Contest a Gold Medal in the 5 Acre Soybean contest and a Silver Medal in the Commercial Lamb Club. Newton Halterman of Rushville Township will judge the State Corn and Junior Corn Show at Purdue University during Farm Science Days. He is known for his winnings in international and state judging contests and will be in Lafayette most of the week. Rush County farmers will attend Farm Science Days with sessions on Farm Management Crop Livestock and General. At least 15 county residents will attend the Purdue Fish Fry on Friday.
The Walnut Ridge Quarterly Meeting and Co operative Supper was held Friday night with George and Aliene Cole of Gwynneville leading the meeting at Little Blue Friends Meeting.
