Crystle Jane Moore leads First Big Ten in Typing with 67 wpm as various college events unfold. Dr. Ralph Noyer delivers keynote on institutional policies at Gem Hall. Music by Prof. Claude E. Palmer and college band accompanies student initiatives, pledges, and club activities across campus activities and meetings through January.
Rush County hosts the annual tourney with new brackets. Drawings at the principals meeting in John Goode’s office set Friday night pairings Raleigh vs Carthage and Milroy vs New Salem. Saturday features Mays vs Manila, Arlington vs Morton Mem, and bracket winners face off in the night session.
A lecture by Dr. ALF of Ohio State University will be delivered at a banquet of Indiana veterinarians on January 21. The talk stresses the need for more trained veterinarians to support agriculture and prevent livestock diseases amid a rising shortage and growing livestock sector dependence.

The Rushville library dedication and opening are planned for Friday this week. Schoolchildren will visit in the afternoon to reduce night crowds, with politicians invited at 7:30 for a short program and music by the high school orchestra in the evening.
The amateur independent basketball association will stage thirty sequential tournaments to pick finalists for its thirteenth annual late tournament. The final is set for February 26 27 and 98 with the host city yet to be decided. Officials may choose Anderson Frankfort Nobleville for the final site. Twenty four cities are sectional centers with six more to be awarded later. current centers include Yorktown Wilkinson Henryville Bwayzee Tipton Fishers Marengo.
Mr and Mrs P J Sattler entertained with a twelve o'clock dinner Sunday. Covers were laid for Mr and Mrs Noble Miner, Mr and Mrs Henry Sohn and daughters of Knights Town and Mr and Mrs Phillip Satter.
The Music Study Club met with Mrs. A. J. Carr for musical study and games. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Carr. The next meeting is set for Jan 28 at Misa Ellen DeSchipper’s home. W. V. Boward, former Carthage resident now near Alexandria, suffered a broken leg after an automobile accident on state road 28. he was hospitalized in Elwood and returned home with his leg cast. Mrs. Carl Weidner hosted a birthday gathering with an oyster supper for Clyde Owens family, Lewis Sampi family, Ora Siler, and Sodelway, who extended best wishes for more happy returns. The BE, L, BO. W. will hold a market Saturday afternoon Jan ATth at AtcCarty's Drug Store.
Robbers entered the Westland schoolhouse Wednesday night and stole food and dishes from the domestic science department and musical instruments belonging to the high school orchestra. Authorities checked for other missing items and personal belongings of pupils. Earlier robbings occurred at Knightstown cemetery office and Wilkinson cemetery, with motors and other articles taken.
Church notes from East St. Christian Church Logan list Bible school at 9 30 and a bi monthly social on Thursday evening January 22 at 7 in the church basement. The Young People's Society meets with Gladys Reddick on Tuesday January 20 led by Nadine Herkless. Members and friends urged to attend.

Mrs Rowland H Hill attended the initial luncheon of the State Assembly Woman's Club at the Claypool Hotel in Indianapolis on Wednesday. She was a house guest of Mrs C J Buchanan until Thursday and attended a tea at Mrs Fred Byers' home on Thursday afternoon. Hill is a charter member and served as secretary during the first four years of the club's organization.
Those from a distance who attended Morton Barber's funeral last Thursday included Mises Roxie and Margaret Abercrombie and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bonham of Elwood, John and Maurice Williams and Virgil Sheets of New Castle, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Cooper and Mrs. Eldred Cooper of Middletown, Miss Vera Miller of Indianapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Kelso of New Salem, Ed and Walter Hill of Knightstown. Pallbearers were M. B. Lovett, Irvin Hill, Rue Henley, Walter Newlin, C. G. Hill and P. J. Sattler. Singers were H. O. Pitts, J. A. Lineback, Miss Emma Overman and Mrs. Gilbert Miner.
A one day Poultry School will be held in Rush County on January 21 led by Leon Todd of the Purdue Poultry Extension division. The event aims to address local poultry problems and cost cutting to boost profits with open discussion and questions.
The High School boys and girls were hosted at Betty Jane Moore’s home Saturday night after the tournament. A pitch in dinner was served by the girls.

Mr and Mrs Raymond Bowles and daughter hosted a six o clock dinner at their Mays area home Saturday honoring Mrs Augusta Brown age eighty. Mr and Mrs John Hardin of Kennard visited Sunday evening with Mr and Mrs Will Smith. Mrs Hardin stayed a few days. Mrs Smith recovering from quinsy.

The Missionary Society met Wednesday afternoon at Mrs. David Binford's home with Miss Marjorie Anderson leading the lesson. Nine members and three guests attended. at the close of the evening refreshments were served by the hostess.

Miss Katherine Mavity will resign from her role as Rush county Home Demonstration Agent effective February 1. The move ends nearly two years of service during which she led 4 H club work and Home Economics Extension, with Purdue appointing agents and local funding supporting up to 600 dollars yearly. Mavity will stay with her father in Noblesville after leaving the post.
Detroit reports 70,000 to 75,000 recalled to Ford Rouge and other plants as auto factories resume production after declines. Buick Flint adds 1,700 recalls. Cadillac steadies at 6,000. Chevrolet runs two shifts for 32 hours weekly. No new hires, employers say, only rehires from layoffs.
The Sun shine Circle will meet Wednesday January 28 at the home of Mrs C V Creek. Ross Reeves of Occident was a business visitor here on Wednesday, meeting local contacts and touring facilities.
Westland clinched their second straight Carthage Invitational title by beating Carthage 32 14 and Arlington 40 22. Davis scored 14 points Arnold 15 for Westland while Richey led Arlington with 12. Westland's strongest in a large lineup and refined one hand shot gave them the edge throughout the event.
