Fox Drive planned by Ripley Township club

The Ripley Township Conservation Club will hold a Fox Drive next Saturday January 14. Connie Lynn Jordan was Rush County’s first 1961 baby arriving at Rush Memorial Hospital at 6 20 that morning. She weighed five pounds four ounces and is the daughter of Arthur and (name) Jordan of Carthage. Her father serves in the U S Army and is stationed in Rockbridge Italy.

Disorderly Fine for Carthage Man on New Year’s Eve

Donald Moore of Cathage was arrested for disorderly conduct in Carthage on New Year’s Eve and fined $1 plus costs in Rushville Justice of the Peace Court. He was jailed briefly after Marshal Hugh Trowbridge transported him to the county jail.

County Highway Offices Consolidated at Rush County Garage

The Rush County Highway Department opens a new full time office in the garage with Frank Smith named as clerk. The Courthouse part-time office and Mrs. Marjorie Brownell’s position are eliminated as records are centralized and staff concentrated at the new site. Two Rush County Farm youths join Purdue University Eight Weeks Short Course in Agriculture from January 2 to February 24. Philip D. Parish of Carthage received a $75 Sears Roebuck scholarship and Ronnie Sullivan of Ripley township earned a Farm Bureau $75 scholarship. Parish, a Carthage High School 1958 graduate, is in general agriculture, while Sullivan, Carthage High School 1960 graduate, has FFA leadership, Chanter Farmer Degree and six years of 4H experience.

Rush County Lamb Pool Program Plans Announced

The Rush County Sheep committee and County Extension Office outline activities for 1961 including five Lamb Pool pools on June 7 July 5 August 9 September 13 and October 18.
