Mrs Oscar Alexander won first prize of 300 dollars with 7 516 000 votes. Mrs Mary Jessup took 100 dollars with 3 216 000 votes. Loyal Hunt earned 50 dollars with 2 286 000 votes and Stella Humes received 25 dollars with 1 529 000 votes. Be y Webb earned a 20 percent commission on subscriptions. Judges announced the results Saturday afternoon after votes were counted in the Carthage Citizen office.

An intruder tried to enter Phelps' Grocery Sunday night prying bars and removing a window pane before fleeing. Resident Grant Hill heard prowlers near the rear and the Rushville sheriff arrived Monday to photograph fingerprints and pursue the trail.

The Rush county farms were mapped and the detailed affair was taken to Indianapolis REMC headquarters Tuesday morning by Oscar Newhouse and Hubert Innis. World Day of Prayer Services Planned at East Street Church
The annual World Day of Prayer will be observed Friday at East Street Christian Church starting at two o clock. Senorita Laura H Jorquera prepared the program. Delaware Band Fortunes After 1818 Treaty Near Carthage
After the St Marys treaty of 1818 the Delaware bands in eastern and central Indiana dispersed. Bert Davis stirred trouble before being forced away. A heartbroken Indian left his old home near Carthage, where few Delawares camped along Jesse Hill farm. Mable Hill feared her son John D. was with them as he wandered past a wigwam where a knife-flaunting runaway and laughing squaws were present. A Delaware named Blazing Star later noted.

Former Rush County Sheriff Dies at 56
Voorhees Cavitt, age 56 and former Rush County sheriff, died February 20 at Methodist Hospital Indianapolis after three weeks as a patient. He had suffered heart trouble for two years. Survived by widow Norah Cavitt sister Maude Mills of Rushville area and several nieces and nephews. Veterans of Foreign Wars officiated at the cemetery.

Large truck destroyed by fire near Arlington Sunday
A Cincinnati company truck was destroyed by fire on U S Highway 52 one mile east of Arlington at eleven Sunday morning. Driver Mr Scudder found the blaze in the cab as fuel cans fed the flames. An exploding turpentine drum worsened the fire. Scudder escaped unharmed while hitchhiker Vera Lantz of Indianapolis suffered a fractured shoulder and scalp wounds after leaping from the vehicle.
