On the Beat Returns from East Trip

Mrs. A W Winfield and Mrs A J Carr made a trip to the East to visit relatives last week. Winfield returned home Wednesday night after visiting her daughter and family the Fred Doebbers in Rochester New York. Carr continued to Syracuse New York to visit her son Jack Carr and family for an extended stay.

Republican candidates tour county offices and towns

Hubert R. Alexander and Perry King campaigned this week visiting residents and friends across Rush and Henry counties. Both ran on the Republican ticket for joint representative and county assessor respectively, drawing local attention during the visits.

Infant Albert Lee Steward Jr Born in Carthage

The baby son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Steward of Carthage was born February 14, 1962. He weighed 9 pounds 7 3/4 ounces. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Hinton of Carthage and Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Steward of R. R. Knightstown. Great-grandmother is Mrs. Della Rumple of Carthage.

Paul Scott returned home Saturday after a week at the New Castle Clinic where he had surgery. Mrs. Jsoeph Graff shows some improvement at her home. Mrs. Stanley Hawkins remains about the same at home. Mrs. Curtis Lewman had surgery Tuesday at the Ireland Army Hospital Ft. Knox Kentucky ward 2B.

Rush County 4-H Leaders Train at Cambridge City

Thirty two Rush County 4-H members attended the district Junior Leader Training on February 19 in Cambridge City. Leaders from Henry Wayne Fayette Union and Franklin counties joined a program sponsored by the Indiana Farm Bureau and the Agricultural Extension Service with workshops in crafts singing public speaking group activities demonstrations and developing junior leaders. Those attending from Rush County included Jim Geise Sue Maines Mike Rees and many others. Adults accompanying the group were Alton Gordon Wm Reeves Kenneth Johnson and others.
