A Valentine party and musical program by Carthage school music department was held in the school building Wednesday evening. Directed by Mrs. A. J. Carr, the event drew a large appreciative audience. The program showcased the baby band baton twirlers and high school band with well trained performers, and decorations included a large white Valentine on red with CHS letters and fifth and sixth grade paintings.

Thieves Take Antique Guns From Indianapolis Display
Thieves stole about $2000 worth of antique guns from the Indiana Typewriter Co. in Indianapolis. An overnight break in shattered windows with a brick and car jack and the guns were removed. discovery occurred around 4 00 p m Thursday by police. Henry Stinger valued the collection highly as antiques formerly shown in The Citizen window display.

Returned missionary to speak at Blue River Church
Professor Charles E. DeVol, a returned Friends missionary from China, will speak on World’s Day of Prayer at the Blue River Wesleyan Church southwest of Arlington on February 16 at 7 30 p m. He was born in China to American medical missionaries and spent years among Chinese people including during a revolution. He was in Shanghai during Pearl Harbor and later interned 18 months in a Japanese concentration camp before returning home on the Gripsholm voyage.
