Dr Harold Criswell district superintendent will deliver the message at Fletcher Methodist Church Sunday at 10 30 a m A cooperative dinner will be held at noon guests bring own table service The 4th quarterly conference for Carthage and Arlington will follow after dinner in the afternoon.
A capacity crowd of 45 attended Rush Lodge No. 580 F and AM last Thursday night February 2 as the Master Mason degree was conferred. Ten lodges were represented including Arthur Wilson of Sharon Lodge 250 Pennsylvania and Glenn Daugherty of Pem Lodge 19 Hartford. Rev. Earl Vaughn past grand chaplain of Indiana joined the group along with Indiana members. Refreshments followed the degree work and business meeting.
Steven Marshall of Carthage, son of Mr and Mrs Forrest Marshall, is named to Purdue University's distinguished scholar list after finishing the first semester with a 5.5 rating.
Luther Hall shows improvement after several weeks illness. Mrs. Callie Heim of R. 2 remains convalescent at home. Edna McDaniel of Rushville, formerly of Carthage, stays several days at Rush Memorial Hospital. Ross Tweedy improves at Community Hospital Indianapolis. Noah Leisure remains stable at his Carthage home. Mrs. Freeman Blessinger released from Major Hospital Shelbyville after weeks and major surgery. Bernice Branson remains a patient at Rush Memorial Hospital.
Miss Sue Ann Siler of Van Nuys California daughter of Mr and Mrs Russell Siler of Carthage underwent major surgery two weeks ago at the Orthopaedic Hospital at 2400 South Flower Street Los Angeles. Mrs Russell Siler has stayed with her daughter over two weeks and is expected to bring her home next week.
The Carthage PTO will sponsor a showing of Rev Frank C Guyatt1964 Olympic pictures at the Carthage Community Center Monday February 20 at 7 p.m. Advance ticket sales will be by 4th 5th and 6th grades. Adults 50 cents and children under 12 25 cents. Tickets go on sale next week by the grade children.
Alva Porter underwent eye surgery at Robert Longin Hospital in Indianapolis on Tuesday and reported he is getting along nicely. He is listed in Room C East, 4th Floor.
A daughter was born January 26 to Mr. and Mrs. David Fort of R R Greenfield weighing 7 pounds 6 ounces. The baby was named Patti Lynn and is the child of Mrs. Violet Henley of Carthage.
Mr and Mrs Joseph Graff hosted a birthday dinner Sunday for their daughter Mrs Bill Schmidt of Indianapolis. Guests included Mr Schmidt and his sons and Mr and Mrs Gary Siler of Carthage.

New Palestine defeated Carthage 105 to 80 as guards McDougall and Cochran led with 30 and 23 points. Carthage’s LaFuse and Hunt added 21 and 23, while Burk sat out with an ankle injury. Carthage shot 30 of 82. NP hit 38 of 65 including 23 of 36 in the first half.
The Carthage Raiders extended their win streak with a 79-68 victory over Cadiz. Dave Hunt scored a season high 26 points on 11 field goals and 4 free throws as Carthage led 34-32 at halftime and 56-48 after three quarters. Cadiz hosts’ second team fell 43-32 as Rick McNabb led Cadiz with 13 points.
David W. Hulse has been appointed Assistant Plant Forester at Container Corporation of America Carthage Indiana Pulp and Paper to bolster woodland management services and assist pulpwood producers. A native of Branchport New York he earned a 1965 BS in Forest Management from the State College of Forestry at Syracuse. Dave and his wife Barbara and daughter Debbie live at 227 North Washington Knightstown.
Hugh Roberts of Carthage received a 25 year service honor from Eli Lilly in Indianapolis and Greenfield. He received a wrist watch and certificate at a ceremony at the Indianapolis home office with a post event reception. A further honor occurred at his daughter’s home in Carthage with family present.
Three youths John Mike McKee Eddie Crump and Ernest Jones will appear in Circuit Court at Rushville at 9 am today on burglary and auto banditry charges tied to a Car thage North Main Street burglary. Police traced the operation after a suspicious car was spotted on Market street.
Mrs. Ethel M. Collins, 67, of Hamilton County, daughter of William Hoover and Ardella Cotner, born July 5, 1899, wed to James Collins on October 17, 1926. Survived by son Charles Hoover, daughter Mrs. Wells, four grandchildren, and sister Mrs. Elsie Gunn. Funeral at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hampton fellow Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation after 1 p.m. Friday.
Tweedy Memorial Community Center directors approved min utes and January financials and outlined the 1967 Fall Festival dates September 27 to 30. A new Thursday bingo event after the Smorgasbord was approved to boost festival week revenue.
The Carthage High School No 22 PTO meeting moved from Tuesday February 14 to February 20 to secure the desired program with more information to be announced next week. Rushville Elks Club hosted a Lincoln Day banquet with County Chairman Jack Clarkson leading the program. Rep. Richard Roudebush stood in for the absent speaker, spoke on Great Society critics, and urged steadfast Hoosier and 10th District resolve amid Vietnam and domestic issues.
Five members of the local Christian Church attended Sunday worship at Little Flat Rock Christian Church. Mrs. E. V. Lawton of Australia World President of the Christian Women Fellowship delivered the message during her U.S. tour. Attendees included Mrs. Paul Boulton, Mrs. Forrest Beck, Mrs. Joanna Gibson, Mrs. Guy Ewing, and Mrs. Forrest Moore.
