Carthage Better Business Association Meets at Geise

A Tuesday noon meeting of the Carthage Better Business Association was held at the Geise Restaurant. President Lloyd Manuel and secretary-treasurer Mrs. Clyde Ruby led minutes and the treasurer's report. Members discussed several business matters and planned a Valentine’s Sale at local stores for this Saturday.

PTO Hosts Annual Parent Teacher Basketball Game

The P T O sponsors its annual basketball night at the school gym next Tuesday as a money making project. The opener features 5th and 6th graders, followed by the teachers versus parents game at 8 p.m. Admission is 25 cents.

East St Church Groups Meet for Monday Night Session

Three church groups at East St Christian Church met Monday night with Chi-Rho in charge of the opening. Jerry May led songs and Sherry McKain offered the prayer. Teachers included Mrs. Bob McKain, Mrs. Fred Parish, Mrs. Frank Alexander, and Mrs. Clyde Ruby. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Mrs Everett Chapman of Greenfield formerly of Carthage remains critically ill at Hancock County hospital Greenfield. Carthage Grain Bowling team defeated Dunreith Grain last Sunday at Carth Knight Lanes by 2310 to 1954. Lewis Lafuse led the winners with a 492 series while Jim Linville top-scored for Dunreith with 477.

Literary Circle and Mixers Club Meet With Community Plans

The Literary Circle hosted by Mrs Harold Dixon gathered eleven members and three guests at her home with Mrs Howard Henley presiding. Mrs Jesse Kizer spoke on the history of the Saturday Evening Post and a Nancy Bell Girls Scholarship Fund offering was taken. The Mixers Home Ec Club met February 2 at Mrs Lewis Lafuse with nine attendees and six children. Funeral for Mrs Phoebe Nelson Held at Arlington

Funeral services were held Monday at Arlington Methodist Church for Mrs Phoebe Nelson of near Carthage.
