Fort Knox Graduate Pvt Valie Gold Honors Home Town News

Pvt Valie F. Gold, 19, son of Mr and Mrs Valie Gold of Carthage Indiana, recently completed the track vehicle maintenance course at the Armored School Fort Knox Kentucky. The course trains enlisted personnel to repair tracked vehicles and includes unit maintenance shop administration. Gold entered the Army in May 1955 and did basic training at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri after graduating Milroy High School in 1954.

Walnut Ridge Friends Church invites churches in and around Carthage to join a crusade starting Sunday January 1 and ending Easter Sunday. A Watch Tower service will open Saturday night from 10 p m to midnight with special music and a night service inviting all Christians to attend.

Bush County commissioners closed 1955 with Elmer Perkins named chairman for the new board to convene next Tuesday. Newton Malterman will replace Ralph Gosnell January 3.
