Post Office Employees Hold Christmas Dinner in Carthage

Carthage Post Office workers and spouses gathered at the Durbin Hotel Saturday night for a 7:30 p.m. Christmas dinner. After meals they enjoyed cards, and Postmaster William Alexander received a gift. New County Commissioner to Take Over Monday

John E. Meek and R. R. J. Milroy will assume office Monday succeeding Newton Halterman who completed two terms. Meek was elected in November 1960 but will begin after a one year layover. Other Rush County commissioners are Elmer Perkins of Manilla and Clarence Newhouse for the northern district.

Charlottesville Tops In Contest At Hancock County event

The Hancock County 4H and FFA Forestry Contest was held December 14 at Memorial Building Greenfield. Four teams from three schools competed. Charlottesville coached by Lee Patton won the team title with 570 points. Individual top scorers included Dan Bowman and Jeff Glascock tied at 280 points.

Rush County Plans Five Lamb Pools Next Year

Local Marine Recruit Completes Training at Parris Island

Adult Farmers Classes Begin at Carthage High School

The Carthage High School Vocational Agriculture Department will start its series of adult farmer classes on Wednesday night January 3, 1962 at 7 30 p m in the high school vocational agriculture room. Any farmer or person interested in agriculture is invited to attend. The theme this year is Animal Nutrition and Improving Crop Yields with outside speakers planned to enhance informativeness.

Total giving for all purposes reached 47,122,000, up 1,772,000 from 1960, as membership rose to 326,870.
