Christmas Program at Carthage Friends Church
A large audience attended the Carthage Friends Church Christmas program on Sunday evening. The event featured piano and organ duets, a youth and primary class play titled What Is Christmas Spirit, readings by Miss Lorinda Miekush, and a talk by Pastor Gene Lewis titled Three Wise Guys. Congregational carols followed before a social hour and refreshments. Local groups provided cheer plates, baskets, and flowers for shut ins and needy families. Visitors include Sgt. and Mrs. Robert Gard and family from Lawton Oklahoma and Mrs. Marshall Monk and sons from Miami Florida. Mrs. Russell Shutt is recovering from surgery at Hancock County Hospital.

Foreclosure Action Filed Against Dye Couple in Carthage
First Federal filed a foreclosure suit against Sherman R. and Phyllis J. Dye of Carthage. They allegedly signed a note for 5200 on September 19, 1964 and are in default by 439.25. The complaint asks for 6049 total judgment including 800 attorney fee and sale of the Carthage property with proceeds to apply to the debt.

A thief broke into Geise Restaurant last Sunday night and stole the jar used to collect funds for Alva Porter. Investigating officers have not identified the would be thief. Mrs Joyce Harrold reports her Fashion Shop was broken into last Friday night but nothing appeared disturbed or stolen.

Raiders Split 6-2 After Win Over Morton Tigers

A near capacity crowd attended the Carthage Schools annual Christmas program in the local gym Tuesday night. Under Bob Edwards’ direction the high school junior high and flute bands performed, a brass sextet offered two numbers, Bob Winters announced the nativity story, and several choruses added to the tale. The program ended with the traditional Christmas Prayer by the High School Chorus.
