Resignation of Carthage Clerk-Treasurer and Replacement

Mrs. Bernadine Morgan resigns as Carthage Town Clerk-Treasurer after a long tenure since 1949. The Town Council fills the vacancy by appointing Arthur Winfield to serve through January 1, 1968. Also notes attendees Robert L. Winters and Ercel Bever Jr at a three day Indiana IRS and tax seminar in Indianapolis, December 13 to 15.

Funds Raised for Alva Porter Family in Carthage

V F W and Auxiliary Meet in Terre Haute

Mrs. Rachel King of Carthage and Mrs. Catherine Hahn of Knightstown attended the V F W and Auxiliary Southern Area Meeting Monday night at the V F W Post in Terre Haute Indiana. The Boy Scouts held a regular meeting last Wednesday December 7 at 7 p m in the local Library basement with nine boys present advancing toward tenderfoot and planning a Christmas party and meeting on December 23.

Local hospital returns and discharges noted

Mrs. Ralph Truitt came home Saturday from Rush Memorial Hospital while Mrs. Earl McCorkle was released Tuesday after surgery there. Alva Porter left Robert Long Hospital in Indianapolis for home in Carthage on Monday. Noah Leisure and Mrs. Maurice Lukens also returned home Saturday from Rush Memorial Hospital.

Ronald Gatewood Promoted to Captain in Navy Service
