Charlestown Faces Acute Housing and Sanitation Needs
The State Board of Health report shows only six vacant dwellings and space for about 250 people in lodging options, with Charlestown lacking a full sewage system though a small plant is under construction. Anticipated population reach is 2500, and Federal housing plans south of town will need sanitation and water. Trailer and tourist camps must meet state sanitation and water standards to prevent malaria and typhoid outbreaks.
