Veterans Class in Ripley Goes Half Time for Instructor
The Veteran's Agricultural class at Ripley Township School will cut to half time for instructor Hugh Porter beginning January 1 due to veterans exhausting entitlements. The class will keep 15 students and require the same instructional hours. Porter will work part time with Rush Production and Marketing Administration to collect soil samples sent to Purdue's soil testing lab for phosphate, potash, and lime availability. A 50 cent plus postage charge applies.

Carthage barber Claude Jones dies after operation
Claude Jones a Carthage barber who moved to Anderson 41 years ago died Thursday morning at his home from a heart ailment following an operation eight months earlier. Survived by his widow two sons Harold Jones of Berea Ohio and William Jones of Anderson and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday at 1 30 p m at Baker Bros Mortuary Anderson with interment at Glen Cove cemetery Knightstown.

McManus aged 67 a retired farmer died last Friday after a monthlong illness and surgery at the hospital He was born October 16 1885 in this county the son of Thomas and Magadaline Jones McManus He belonged to Masons Elks Modern Woodmen in Rushville and to the Christian church He is survived by his widow Mrs Grace Mauzy McManus a daughter Mrs Clarence Gross two sons Thomas and Mauzy McManus all of Rushville one brother Fred of Carthage and two sisters Miss Carrie McManus and Mrs Inez Brown of Indianapolis Funeral services were held Monday at Wyatt Mortuary and burial was in East Hill Cemetery Rushville Mr and Mrs Fred McManus arrived Saturday and left Tuesday for Florida

Mrs Jessie Wilson died at her home in Cleveland Indiana at midnight Sunday after a long heart ailment with complications.
