Trio of youths jailed for chicken theft and wheat theft
Frank and Fern Young and Rolland Leisure were arrested in Knightstown for selling stolen chickens. Lowell McCorkle escaped during arrest and is being sought. They pleaded guilty in Rushville circuit court, each fined 15 dollars and sentenced to the Pendleton reformatory for 1 to 14 years. The Young brothers also admitted stealing 15 bushels of wheat from Gahimer in Posey township and selling it at a Knightstown elevator. Curtis Wells of this place pleaded guilty, fined 10 dollars and costs, and sentenced 1 to 8 years at the reformatory. All were sent to the reformatory.

Postmaster Appointed at Carthage by Senate
The Senate confirmed Miss Pearle Coffin as Postmaster at Carthage on Wednesday. She has assisted in the Post Office for over a year and acted as assistant postmaster since January 17, and will take charge January 1.
