Porter family attends Indiana Tech graduation in Fort Wayne

The Porter family spent the weekend in Fort Wayne for the graduation of Mark Porter who earned a BS in electrical engineering from the Indiana Institute of Technology. The family will move to Rockford Illinois after January 3 1967. Authorities announced prize recipients including a Cone electric clock five stereo records a AM Radio a 4 qt pressure cooker and a staple gun.

Three Divorces Granted by Bush Circuit Court

On Tuesday the Bush Circuit Court granted three divorces. In one case Patricia Richmond obtained a divorce from Harry Richmond, was awarded custody of the child, with Richmond ordered to pay $15 weekly support and $75 for court costs.

Henderson dies in Harrisburg auto crash

A collision near Harrisburg Pennsylvania on Saturday killed Mr. Robert Henderson and seriously injured his wife. The funeral for Mr. Henderson is planned for Thursday in Middletown Ohio.

Parker earns PhD at Stanford amid global teaching plans

George Parker son of Mr and Mrs John Parker and grandson of Mrs Florence Parker has completed work toward a PhD at Leland Stanford University California He is married with a young son and will teach in the Graduate School at Cali University Colombia after Christmas holidays The family spent over a year and a half in the Peace Corps in Lima Peru before returning to California for further studies

Promoted to Lt Col Curtis J Porter Leads Counterinsurgency Course

Lt Col Curtis J Porter promoted from Major to lieutenant colonel. He directs a Counter insurgency course under the Tactical Air Command and has been transferred to Shalimar Florida with his two daughters. He called his sister Mrs Vera Rucker in Carthage from Montgomery to relay the news.

Eighteenth Annual 4-H Dinner Ends with Awards and Honors

The Rushville event featured Edward Frickey addressing leaders and guests while Mrs. Betty Hamner served as toastmistress. Pins and certificates were awarded for five, ten, fifteen, and twenty years of 4-H leadership to numerous members from Rushville and surrounding areas. Local retailers and businesses hosted the banquet as part of the Indiana Retail Council involvement. Pearl Reynolds, 62, of Rushville, died after a stay in Indianapolis hospitals. she was born in Fleming County Kentucky and survived by family members.

Last Saturday evening December 3 a Seventh grade birthday party for Ric Winters took place at his East First Street home. Carthage School Received State Inspection Report

The week long inspection by L L Cook of the Div Board of Education found Carthage School generally strong with a well rounded extracurricular program. He noted some criticisms about extra curriculars but praised the guidance counselor, 36 teaching subjects, and overall compliance with standards, recommending a Continuing Commission.

Carthage Raiders extend win streak with 69–58 victory

The Carthage Raiders defeated Arlington Wildcats 69 to 58 to push their season record to 5–0. Rucker led with 20 points, Matlock added 13, Hunt 12, and Edwards 13 as Carthage pulled away after halftime. Arlington's McCabe scored 18, Hawkins 16, and Wood 10 in a tough, hard fought game.

Christmas Party Highlights Legion and Auxiliary Dinner Meeting

About forty attended the joint Christmas dinner at the Community Center. A smorgasbord meal followed by a gift exchange featured guest Sandra Arnold of ISSC Home Knightstown. Mrs. Eugene R. Gardner received a gift as Auxiliary president. Ralph Pearson thanked the Auxiliary for the invitation. The unit sent candy and cookies to Sp. Gary D. Perry and boxes to four Ripley Two boys in Vietnam.

Christmas program at Fletcher Methodist Church

Wedneday evening December 7 the Womans Society of Christian Service hosted a turkey dinner and co op dinner at Fletcher Methodist Church annex for members husbands and guests. The program followed with a mixed quartet from Carthage High School and Christmas numbers led by Mrs. Helen Magruder and accompanied by Mrs. Hubert Hunt. Rev Frank Guyatt of Dublin spoke after introducing the trip to Africa shown in color pictures.

Rush County real estate sales dip to 41 month low in November

November real estate activity in Rush County totaled about 219 500, the lowest in 41 months, with 139 000 in farm sales. City properties reached 33 000 and non farm deals total 47 500, while farm sales included three sums of 44 000 30 000 and less. Transfers include Mae Addison et al to E Franklin and Mary Addison for 92 acres in Ripley Township and other deeds in Carthage and surrounding areas.
