Committees named and dates set for the Rush County Corn Show to be held in the Rushville courthouse December 26 27 and 28. The 4 H Boys Achievement banquet closes the show with an auction sale of seed corn that afternoon. Ripley township will have strong representation in the displays.
The Jonal Tuberculosis Association sponsors a yearly sale during the Christmas season to aid diagnosis and education. More than 60,000 Americans suffer from tuberculosis with an economic cost of 33 million annually. Early diagnosis improves recovery chances, and readers are invited to participate by buying Health Bonds to assist national and local efforts.
The pastor delivers the annual Christmas message in the morning worship. The play The Pageant of the Three Gifts by the church youth starts at 7:00 p m with gifts for the Christian Orphan's Home in St Louis. Gifts should be wrapped in white and left in the vestibule Sunday. A new Golden Legion revival and Bible reading milestone lead to a January start for a new Legion open to all. Young people meet December 20 at Miss Virginia Junken's home.
Roy Steff of Carthage Indiana says one more delivery on December 20 for articles and many specials at Zanol Products Co for Christmas.

Mrs Lovett with Mrs Verna Hill as assisting hostess welcomed the Thimble Club at her home Tuesday afternoon. After their regular business meeting lovely refreshments were served. Attendees included Miss Edna Newsom and Raymond Kennedy in Indianapolis and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hudson of Richmond.
Preston Coffin, a lifelong resident, died of heart trouble Saturday night at 9 40 in Ross Parish lunch room after returning from a basketball game. He was 65, never married, and lived with his sister Miss Pearle Coffin. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1 30 at the aunt Mrs Ella Coffin home with Rev N S Schoolfield and Dr James Furbay officiating. Interment in Riverside cemetery.
Pearle Coffin and Cyrus W. Coffin express gratitude to friends and neighbors for acts of kindness and showers shown during the illness and passing of their dear brother, with appreciation for the beautiful floral tributes.
County Agent E F Brown invites Rush County farmers to meetings across townships starting December 11th to December 17th. Neighbors will discuss farm income prospects for 1935, record-keeping benefits, and government contract payments, with free record books and open discussion.
Mr Roy Newby is expected to return home from Methodist Hospital this Friday or Saturday, according to family updates. He is resting and responding well after his recent medical treatment.
The Carthage Bluebirds defeated Mays 31 by leading most of the game and benched four players on fouls. They then beat Morton 31 24 as Morton, a top county squad, were held to seven points fewer than usual. The team’s improved play and fan support push them toward a county championship contention.
Miss Maxine Reddick daughter of Russell Reddick united in marriage with Max Riggs Saturday at Rushville at 4:00 PM. Attendant was Miss Betty Webb. Couple to live with groom’s parents on a Cumberland area farm and later visit relatives in Anderson with Earl Reveal and son.
Miss Averial Spurlin of Shelbyville wed Harold Catt son of Mr and Mrs Walter H Catt in Greenfield on Tuesday morning at 10 30 oclock. The groom’s parents attended and the couple will reside with his parents for now.

The church announces Sunday school at 9 30 morning worship with a sermon on What did Jesus Bring to the World that was Not here Before by the pastor. Special music by Mrs Vir gil Tetrick and a community Cantata by public school pupils directed by Mrs Ramona Pickett on Sunday afternoon December 16 at 3 30. The Woman's Missionary Society meets Wednesday December 19 with Mrs Myrtle Carfield hosting and Miss Mattie Clark leading. A minstrel show for the community children is encouraged.
An evening Bible Training Class at East St. Christian Church drew a good crowd despite snow. Weekly sessions start at 7 15 pm each Monday and are open to all. Next week’s lesson is How to Study the Scriptures while work on the Christmas pageant The Birth of the King progresses for presentation at 7 pm Sunday December 23. Preaching services are planned for December 23.
Young people rehearse for a Christmas program at Fletcher M. E. Church while Epworth League prepares a play for Westland on December 18. Services include Sunday school at 9 30 and worship at 10 35 with special music by Wilma Woods and Dick Gardner. Rev Schoolfield attends Indiana Conference Rally in Indianapolis.
The W L C members met at Mrs Willella Henley's home on Monday afternoon. They heard Scripture selections from the Christmas Story and a paper by Mrs Anne H Newsom about Jesus as the greatest of all Jews. The group approved a health bond purchase and a resignation from Mrs Alta Carr was read with regret.
