The Citizen details 1882 1886 1888 1889 1890 1892 1894 1895 1896 1897 1906 1907 1912 1930 reunions with survivors and relatives listed. Notes letters from alumnae in Chicago Indianapolis Greenfield Terre Haute Jacksonville Seattle and elsewhere along with reminiscences about teachers and the old town pump.
Ralph Wolf from Poca tello Idaho reports on local celebrations including the Carthage Centennial and the recently closed Old Fort Hall Centen nial. He mentions his failed attendance and notes their float with six Indians in tumbling acts while their institution enters its forty fourth year.
The text notes a wedding where the leader is Mary’s husband Ralph II, mentions sons John and Grove attending the ceremony in Milwaukee, Grove directing swimming at Fish Lake district camp and planning to return to Geo. Williams College in Chicago, John entering his senior year, Alice aiming for nurse training in St. Louis, and praises Mame Overman and Carthage peers as influential memories.
McFatridge 20 son of Mr and Mrs Harry McFatridge living two miles northwest of Arlington had a narrow escape Wednesday about 9:00 am learning to ride. He turned from First street onto Main and struck an electric light standard in front of the Citizen office. He was knocked to the pavement, unconscious, with a cut by his right eye and other bruises. He was carried to the Citizen office and Dr G B McNabb treated him. D P Dunn took him home. The motorcycle was badly damaged.
The Gen. Chairman expresses sincere thanks to all who contributed to the centennial success. Advertisers who have not received their Centennial book should call at the Citizen office to collect it.
S L Newsom and Mrs S C Mc Carty visited Indianapolis on Wednesday. Mr and Mrs D W McNabb and daughter of Bedford visited with his brother Dr and Mrs G B McNabb and family. DeSchipper Packing Company reports a four day run this week with similar outlook next week. About 120 peelers plus other help brings payroll to roughly 200. Two shifts are used and most pack is truck shipped. Pentecostal meeting at A M E church ends Sunday after two weeks led by Bruce Jordan with support from Anderson Greenfield and Morristown workers. Street meetings were held on Saturdays during the revival.
Miss Mattie Clark faced a birthday surprise after library hours. Mrs Avery Rawl hosted three tables of rock and served raspberry salad cake and coffee. Dr and Mrs Will Coleman entertained friends honoring Mr and Mrs Henry Stager and Mrs Gil Martin of Morristown N J. Mrs John White planned a miscellaneous shower for Mrs Mary Ruth Addison Bennett. Miss Betty Loughonan hosted a two table bridge party for cousin Miss Virginia Richards visiting from Vincennes. Mrs Willella Henley hosted a luncheon at Seville in Indianapolis with Madge Wilkins McCoy and others. Mrs Katherine V Kennedy entertained friends at Rock. Mr and Mrs Frank Overman hosted about twenty five in honor of Mrs Daisy Hiles of Morristown N J with a musical program. Mrs Hiles is twin sister of Mrs Overman and left for home Thursday. Mrs Anna Sipe Grace Phelps and Misses Coffin and Newsom enjoyed a hamburger in Riley Park Greenfield. Birthday surprise for Mrs N S Schoolfield at Mrs Grace H Porter home. pretty dishes presented. An enjoyable house warming for Mr and Mrs Emil Brunning recently moved from Evansville to the home of Mrs Laura Hinshaw.
Mr and Mrs Walter Addison and daughter Barbara joined Mr and Mrs Guy Ewing with Merrill and Arthur Walker. Also present were Mr and Mrs Hubert Ti and daughter Mary Lou ise Mr and Mrs Walter Choseau with daughter Betty Lou and son Bobby and Miss Virginia Richards of Evansville.
Charles Ruby departed last Wednesday to fulfill teaching duties in Fullerton California while his wife and ailing son remain behind. Raymond Addison endured two head hemorrhages Friday evening and was ill, now improved and partly mobile. For sale fries and pickles by Billie Norris.

The Friends Church in Columbus Ohio holds a worship service at 10 30 with James R Furbay conducting. New committees were appointed for the year and are urged to take their duties seriously.
The Sunday School picnic drew a large crowd with men and boys losing the penny strip contest to women and girls who then supplied refreshments. The church fair meeting finalized committees for a September 7 and 8 event. Epworth League attended a Rushville district rally where Rev. Frank Greer spoke. River Vale house and home note burned at service end. Mid week service starts Thursday at 7 30 PM. Sunday School 9 30 AM worship 10 15 AM sermon The Road Ahead. Evening services begin the first Sunday after conference on September 23. Epworth League meets this Sunday at 6 30 PM.
The Earnest school reunion will be held at Hannegan Church after morning worship on Sunday. This is the eighth year it has taken place there with members of the old Earnest school and friends invited. Morning worship includes Bible School at 9 30 and a 7 30 evening service with a Beatitudes message.
Fourteen Scouts met at the Draper Cabin and announced an inter patrol contest to begin in September. The cabin dedication is set for September 18 and a gala is planned. Parent Council will meet on the second Monday due to Labor Day. The three day Laughing Waters camp concluded with all enjoying meals at 20 cents each. Troop Committee members are Dr. G. B. McNabb, Chairman, Howard E. Henley, and Claude Sipe.
About thirty descendants of the Jesse Phelps family gathered at the overflowing well last Sunday for a reunion and pitch-in dinner. Guests included Mr and Mrs Frank White of Charlottesville Mr and Mrs A Perry and family of Alexandria Mrs Elizabeth Haydock Berry and son of Owassa Michigan and other relatives.
