Fire destroys Ging Grain and Feed elevator
A fire of unknown origin last week destroyed the Ging Grain and Feed Company elevator. Flames consumed the structure in about 40 minutes with three men inside. One man warned others about the impending smoke as they looked out to see the blaze. Loss included several hundred bushels of oats and about 15 tons of feed.

A one car crash on Carthage Road near Arlington injures Dahl Petry 21 and his wife Juanita with their two month old baby unhurt. The couple was taken to Rush Memorial Hospital after the car hit a REMC pole, two fence posts, and sustained about 1000 to 1200 dollars in damage to the 1964 car.

Two hundred thirty one steers from 141 4H club members across nine counties are entered in the Eighteenth Annual Southeastern Indiana District 4H Steer Show and Sale at the Rush County fairgrounds Livestock Pavilion on Saturday September 12 1964. Premiums from American breeders associations total over 75 dollars each and the Southeastern Indiana Angus Association adds ten to fifteen dollars for champions. School To Open Next Week And Band Schedule
The high school marching band will attend two events at the State Fair next week. They depart Carthage Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. for Farmers Day Parade and return about 4:15 p.m. On Wednesday they head to Band Contest leaving at 6:30 a.m. and returning around 7:30 p.m. Rehearsals are Saturday August 29 at 8 10 a.m. and Monday August 31 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Car Crash on County Road Causes $1,030 Damages
A one car accident Tuesday morning on a county road caused $1,030 total damage. Jerry Dellen er, 22, Route 1 Tipton, drove into a culvert southeast of town at 11 30 am then struck a fence at Clarence Hiems farm. The Hy Line Chicks owned vehicle sustained $1,000 damage and the fence $30. Dellinger escaped injury.

The 79th Hunt Family Reunion gathered sixty two members and thirteen guests Sunday August 23 1964 at Mrs Flora Hunts home west of Carthage Indiana. attendees came from Knightstown Wilkinson Anderson Mooresville Indianapolis Oaktown Freelandville and Vincennes. President Stephen Hunt welcomed guests and urged attendance next year. A program featured three quartets and solos by Rebecca Cupp Arminta Ruby and Carolyn Hunt. Mrs Russell Shutt Jr recounted a five week Alaska camper trip.
