Deaths of Two Carthage Residents Mark Quiet Week
Two longtime Carthage residents Mrs. Ella J. Coffin 82 and Mrs. Ella Mills Moore 86 died within days. Coffin, a former teacher and Frinds church member, died after a sudden illness. Moore had suffered a prior stroke and lived with relatives before passing. Funeral services were held with Rev. Murray S. Kenworthy officiating. Interment in Riverside and Walnut Ridge cemeteries followed. Survivors include a daughter and sister-in-law, among others. Members and families note their high esteem in the community. The city also postponed the Kappa Kappa Excursion Day to a later date.

Historical Club Meeting Recalls Past Members and History Talk
Members of the Historical Society and friends met Wednesday at Friends church for a cooperative dinner and a meeting led by President Henry L. Stenger and Secretary Mrs. Mabel Hedgecock. A memorial silence honored Mrs. Ella M. Moore and Mrs. Ella J. Coffin. Guest speaker Mrs. Hugh Hanna of Indianapolis spoke on furniture and old clocks and chairs, linking to her series Historic Homes in Indiana. Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Hanna, Mrs. Murray N. Hadley, Dr. and Mrs. Earl Gear, and Miss Carolyn Wildman. The next meeting is planned for February.

Local People Hurt In Auto Accident Near Greenfield
Mr and Mrs Cecil Mathers and Mr and Mrs Curtis Wells were riding home from Turkey Run park when their car went out of control on U S 40 two miles east of Greenfield. Mrs Mathers had a scalp wound and cuts. Mr Mathers suffered a broken nose. Mrs Wells had facial cuts and Mr Wells bruises.
