The local canning plant plans a start in early to mid next week depending on tomato arrivals, with sixty peelers to be employed. News notes include visits by Mrs Davis and daughter of Markleville and Mrs William Farrell of Indianapolis, plus travel plans and family moves among local residents.
Gilbert O. Glover aged nearly 21 died Tuesday afternoon at home after a brief typhoid illness. He had worked at Anderson Tile Works before returning home two weeks ago. Survived by parents, two brothers, and three sisters, he was a Wesleyan Methodist, Carthage High School graduate of 1924 and Marion College student. Funeral Thursday at ten, Rev L C Heart officiating. burial at Little Blue cemetery.
Mrs Avery Rawls came home Monday after a several weeks tour with her daughter Jeanette and a party of thirty five. They sailed from New York June 30 on the An dania to Cherbourg and returned on the Caronia. They visited Paris Versailles and the battle fields of France then Milan Rome Venice Naples and Lugano and Lucerne in Switzerland. They rode up the Jungfrau to the Shedeggshoul er summit at 6770 feet and noted grain crops vineyards and roses along the way.
Mrs Margaret Josephine Hill age 75 wife of Eli B Hill died Thursday afternoon last week at her Spiceland home after a long illness. Survived by husband four sisters and one brother. Funeral held at the Church in Spiceland with burial in Circle Grove cemetery. Local relatives visited and attended services.

Thomas and Tamar Hill family reunion on Sunday September 5 at the I S and S O2 Home. Lemuel Hil presides with Miss Mabel Helps as secretary. Ball and Addison reunion noted near Arlington at a location described as meetewing area west of Arlington.
Petitions for Bus Line Cleu Oler of New Castle owner of the Anderson-Richmond bus line has petitioned the Indiana Public Service Commission for a permit to start a new bus line between New Castle and Rushville via Carthage.
Children under 12 may receive a free ticket for Saturday September 4 at the State Fair. Tickets available by calling the Citizen office or the county agent's office. All children attending that day must have a ticket.
George M. Kullmer and family of Peru visited Dr. C. C. Gause and his family over Sunday.
Samuel Guffey of the mill sustained a right knee injury Saturday afternoon in the boiler room when caught in a cinder chain. Louis Humes, another mill employee, suffered severe injuries Monday night after slipping from a step his left hand pulled into rolling machinery. his arm was lacerated, two left ribs fractured, and his right ear injured. The machinery was halted and workers freed him. Humes is able to move about. Weather disruptions affected wheat and tomato shipments. Ford tire offers appeared in ads. Helen and Grace Overman gave a Rotary Club program, and Rev. Frank J. Guyatt resigned from the Baptist Church at Fairmount to take a Friends pastorate in Rushville.
Five people were injured when a car overturned at Sugar Creek Bridge four miles west of Greenfield at 8 p m Monday. Injuries included severe glass cuts to Mrs W A Dhonau and facial/ear cuts to Betty Lou Dhonau, bruises to Mrs Belle Dhonau Grace Lenman Clyde Dhonau, one leg injury and concussion. The car hit a bridge abutment after skidding behind an oil truck. Warren OHara Hancock county agricultural agent aided transport to Greenfield for treatment. Chonan accompanied his family and mother to Greenfield.
