Indiana parks see record attendance this summer

Indiana state park attendance surpasses 1932 totals with the Dunes leading and week ending July 29 reporting 29 000 visitors. Fees for camping rose with swimming pool receipts nearly doubling from last year as out of state visitors increase at park inns.

Yankuner and Williams Couple Wed in Noblesville

Miss Mariam Yankuner daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Yankuner Rushville and Mr Hollis Williams son of Mr and Mrs Floyd Williams Charlottesville were married in Noblesville on Saturday July 28. Miss Yankuner is a Carthage graduate class of 1929 and Mr Williams a Charlottesville graduate class of 1927. He served in the U S Navy and works in a Middletown Ohio box factory where the couple will reside. Carthage friends extend best wishes.

Bank of Gwynneville Settles in Full

All depositors in the Gwynneville bank that closed earlier have been paid in full. Every stockholder receives twenty five cents above par for each dollar invested. The bank was capitalized at $10,000 and organized in 1928.

Indiana to Post National Recovery Act Labor Cards Statewide

Distribution of posters detailing workers rights under the NRA will begin immediately in Indiana. Fred Hoke, the state NRA compliance officer, announced that all factories shops and stores must display the card showing wage hours and conditions. Most cards will be sent by code authorities but some will come from Hoke's office as applications from manufacturers wholesalers and retailers have waited a month due to printing delays in Washington.

The Recovery Building hosts a Garden and Food Conservation display from September 1 to 7 detailing relief garden work and canning for winter relief supplies. H. E. Long presents a diorama on relief garden and conservation activities with moving figures and displayed commodities.

Wesleyan Conference Opens August 13 At Camp Grounds

Preparations are underway at the Wesleyan Camp Meeting Grounds for the Annual Conference to convene August 13 at 8 00 am The opening service at Plymouth will be preached by Charles S Smith at 8 00 pm The session will focus on organization and the recording of delegates This gathering precedes the General Conference of the Wesleyan church to be held in Fairmount in June 1935 The discussions will include the denomination s war stance and a possible Indiana Conference memorial to the General Conference requesting an official statement

Indiana Republican Editors Outing at Lake Wawasee August Dates

The Indiana Republican Editorial Association will meet August 17 to 19 at the Spink Wawasee hotel Lake Wawasee with Harry W. Thompson announcing the gathering. Carthage Centennial invites old residents and exhibits

The notice calls former Carthage residents to participate in a Centennial event with quilts antiques and photos. Volunteers are urged to bring and tag items by August 13 at Henley’s building. Teachers on Eastern Vacation Return to La Grange

Mrs Grace Doherty and three La Grange teachers finished a three week eastern tour via Canada visiting New York Berkshire and Philadelphia. She stayed with librarian Miss Amy Winslow in Baltimore before a week in La Grange and return to her summer home. Winslow plans to visit relatives here.
