Death of Indianapolis tool maker Ara P. Reeves at 66
Ara P. Reeves, 66, longtime tool maker for P. R. Maulroy Co. Inc., died of heart disease possibly heat induced, July 25, 1934, at his sister Rose Jones's home in Indianapolis. Born in Knightstown, he lived in Columbus and Chicago before moving to Indianapolis after his wife Elizabeth died. He belonged to Linwood Christian church, Masons, and Sahara Grotto. Funeral by the Masons was held at his home, burial at Center cemetery. Survivors include two sisters, also relatives from nearby towns attended.

DeSchipper Canning Co to Open Factory Friday
The DeSchipper Canning Co plans to begin operating its canning factory here on Friday August 10 with Peelers urged to register at the office Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Officials say the tomato crop looks very good and a large pack is expected this year with over 360 acres under contract. About 125 peelers will be used in two eight hour shifts.

William Penn Newsom born September 21, 1843 died July 26, 1934 after two weeks illness. He married Mary Newby October 2, 1873 and later Emma White. Survived by three sons Walter Jesse Frank, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also crops report from central Illinois noting severe clinch bug damage to oats and wheat, with corn mixed prospects and creosote barriers used locally.
