Weekend Motor Trip Covers Twelve States and 4200 Miles

Mr and Mrs Paul Scott of Carthage and Mr and Mrs Joe Holman of New Salem returned from a long motor journey across twelve states totaling over 4200 miles. They toured Lincoln home and tombs in Illinois, endured 110 degree heat in Kansas, visited Idaho Springs Colorado, Mt Evans and Seven Falls, Salt Lake City Temple Square Great Salt Lake copper mines including Bingham, explored Rocky Mountain National Park Estee Park Jackson Hole and Yellowstone spending two nights in the park, crossed the Black Hills and Bad Lands, and concluded with a return through Cody and Bill Grove Dam.

Tom Pearson son of Mr and Mrs Claude Pearson earned Grand Champion with his two year old cow at Rush County Fair. He also took first on his three year old cow first on his Senior Calf second on his aged cow and second on his three year old Jersey Cow plus fourth in showmanship. He shows Ayrshires at the Twenty Annual Central Indiana District Ayrshire Show in Muncie with eighty six head exhibited from several counties and placed in 4-H and Open Show. He will show his Jersey cow Friday in Muncie competition.

Richard Trubey Resigns As Carthage High Coach

Richard Trubey resigns as basketball and baseball coach at Carthage High School to take an insurance job in Illinois. He just completed a successful season as summer recreational director with an unbeaten Little League team and solid junior high and high school results. He had been head coach after Larry Jordan’s departure, serving as his assistant previously. No successor announced by trustees at press time.

The Junior Ripley Boosters 4H Club met August 2 in the high school Ag room. Tony Mummert led the Flag pledge and Fred White led the Pledge. Auto wreck injures three in Rushville collision

Mrs Gary Stewart of Carthage was in a collision Monday noon at Third and Morgan Streets in Rushville Indiana. Her car struck a Rushville man George Hecks vehicle. Melissa suffered head injuries and Teresa a head cut. They were treated at Rush Memorial Hospital then moved to another hospital for surgery. The Stewart car a 1966 model sustained $800 damage while Heck's 1957 car was a total loss. Rushville city police investigated the wreck.
