Marilyn Riley eight year old daughter of Dr and Mrs Frank H Riley of Jamestown sang two songs over WFBM Sunday evening with Smith Bros quartet. Her sweet singing at a family reunion earned an invitation to broadcast on the station.
Robert S. Moore of this city was appointed by Secretary of State James M. Tucker as manager of the local automobile license branch. He served as Republican precinct committeeman for Ripley township and Rush county and will operate from the Carthage Tractor and Implement Co. building, promising to serve the public interests in his new role.
Mrs. Arthur Denham aged 52 of Richmond died after a stroke at the home of Mrs. Verna S. Hill where she had arrived for a dinner with her husband and father Warner Gard. Survivors include husband, father, daughter Mrs. Margaret L. Doty of Bargersville, and brother Rife Gard of Richmond. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in Richmond.

Mr and Mrs Harold Culbertson buy the North East street property from the Alton Smiths and plan to move September 1 from the S L Newsom property on Market Street. Ed Bly and family move Monday from Dr Miller apartment to the Ewing property on South Main Street. Grace H Porter returns home this week to vacated Benton Norris home. Clyde Elmer Ruby and son Michael will occupy Tweedyville property left by Earl Addison. Earl Addison moves into Weber home which has relocated to Indianapolis.

Mrs. Byron Ball received word of the death of Mrs. Edgar Bundy in Portland Oregon. Bundy had been in poor health after a stroke. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Portland. The Bundys were former Carthage residents.
Ralph F. Gates, newly elected state chairman, announces a statewide program including district visits, a policy forming session within weeks, and full cooperation with all party agencies. He plans to spend two days weekly at state headquarters and to hold district meetings to lay groundwork for the 1942 Congressional, state, and county campaigns.
County assessor Paul Glisson released the 1941 annual report showing widespread gains across most townships and cities. Rushville led growth with a $124,105 rise, while several townships posted gains and two townships recorded losses. Total county valuation was $29,409,225 before mortgage deductions, with net assessable value at $28,198,175.
Walter C. Hall aged 48 died Sunday morning at his Circleville home after a brief illness from a heart clot. He belonged to Hall Thorpe Goodman Inc Rushville department store and had been active in civic affairs. Survived by his wife and his mother Mrs R L Friend of Martinsville and cousin Russell Parish.
Mr and Mrs Vergil Tetrick were Tuesday evening guests of Mr and Mrs Henry Laird and children. The visit included shared conversation and hospitality at the Laird home.
Announcement for the Binford family reunion on Tuesday August 19 at Walnut Ridge. Event begins at 10 am with a noon dinner and a 2 pm program. Program includes group singing devotional readings reports and entertainment. Officers listed include President H. E. Binford Vice President Mary Bentley and Secretary-Treasurer Ada Chappell.
Leonard S. Kenworthy of Philadelphia will present Inside Germany at Carthage Friends Church on Friday night August 1. He spent a year in Germany as office manager for the American Friends Service Committee in Berlin and the surrounding area. Kenworthy returned to the U S in late June and is visiting his parents. The talk invites those interested in the Friends Service Committee work and its contacts in Germany.
