Carthage Pair Vacationed Across Florida Coasts

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Mosier and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur McCorkle of Carthage returned from a twelve day Florida trip visiting both coasts. They spent two days at Vero Beach and fished at Mayport Beach on the east coast, called on former residents Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Carter at White Springs, and stopped at Lookout Mountain Tennessee on the return.

Pearson Buys Registered Ayrshire Heifer in Midwest Trade

Tom Pearson of Carthage Indiana bought a registered Ayrshire heifer from Garland Rasdall and Family of Trafalgar Indiana. The deal was recorded at the Ayrshire Breeders Association National Office in Brandon Vermont, which maintains registry records since 1875. The Ayrshire breed is favored for high milk production.

Nine local MYF youth attended the district MYF rally at Shelbyville Sunday afternoon held at the First Methodist Church. Rev. Carthage Lions Plan Ladies Night and Film Show

The Carthage Lions Club met at the Community Center on April 24 with president Hubert Hunt presiding and Harold Dixon serving as secretary. Plans for a May 8 ladies night were finalized along with a program, and a scout troop activities report was received. James Ellis presented a film of last year's 500 mile race before members adjourned to Hoosier Manor Restaurant for refreshments.

Morton Wins Annual County Track Meet at Morton

Morton Memorial dominated the Rush County meet at Morton track scoring 932 points to outpace New Salem 34 percent, Carthage 20 percent, and Milroy nine. Lorenzo Beard set a county broad jump record at 22 feet 10 inches, close to the state best, while Mike Naylor added high jump record with 5 feet 8 inches. Morton's 880 relay team clocked 1 40 for a new meet mark.

Arlington Opens Spring Baseball With 8 4 Win Over Shelbyville

Arlington defeated Shelbyville 8 to 4 in the season opener. Pitcher Jerry Wolff worked the full game, yielding five Shelby hits, striking out ten and walking seven. Shelbyville used mostly reserves with four varsity players, while Arlington played solid defense behind Wolff.
